nah DW about that Im talking about folks on the chieftain thread who showed actual pages of lists of upgrades and tanks etc.
Like Id really love hte mk5 in game to be the mk5/4 which has a LRF and access to L15A5 (if it was fking modelled right)

TBH the MK3 as it is in game should have a LRF, same for the MK5. And if MY sources are Right, (that being like 3 seperate books from the 80s that ALL mention the Mk5 having Thermals) The Mk5 should have Gen 1 TOGS’s, along with the Mk10.
From what ive Found, and even seen, A large number of Mk5s, and Mk10s, were fitted with a Form of “Stealth Thermals” Where they had the IR spotlights replaced with Thermal imagers, while using the original Spotlight housing.

It was done MOSTLY to Berlin Brigade Chieftains, As they were the ones expected to be on the front lines if the Cold War went hot.
While also wanting to keep the fact they HAD Thermal’s, a secret.
That what you see in the picture is a one off test bed the documents on tbe othrr chieftain thread show what it is…
The mk5s that got thermals is what i was gonna say but they became mk11s with the stillbrew add on and totem pole
Mk3s never had the lrf initially the mk5 rolled out the factory with them i believe as it was tested on a mk3 months before the mk5 rolled into production.
Could be wrong.
Biggest issue with chieftains is there are far, far.too many different marks of them.

Nah it was done as a testing the housings got swapped over to togs long before the soviet union fell or thr wall came down.
Wish there was a premium or foldered nk5 at 9.0 with a proper l15a5 round and lrf.
Meanwhile gaijin: gives every T-80 thermals even though only 1 example had a Half functional Thermal imager that barely worked.

Well t80Us all did have thermals bar the one thats 11.3 and the 80UD.
The 80B was a test bed for it which is why its an upgrade but yeah theyre one of the big 3 trees.
Look ar germany they got that little french light thats 8.7 before france did and it was French

The Spall Potential is turned WAY down.
I hit a Leopard 1 3 times in the turret, didn’t kill it, Hit a Beglit 5 times in the turret and hull, didn’t kill it.

Appears to be working exactly like L15A3 for me, but i used to upteir hte mk5 chieftain so im used to it in higher BRs
Im litterally sitting here watching my Shells hit the front plates of Leopard 1s and MBT-70s and not making a single piece of spall.
Meanwhile L15A3 turns those tanks into confetti party’s.
lol this thing is kinda busted at 9.7, easiest stock grind ever got L23 in about 4-5 games

Im still actively using the l15 man and got it mostly spaded, this things gonna be 10.0 by next month easily.
Why tho? its a Challenger Mk2 with No Thermals, worse gun handling, slightly worse mobility, no L23A1, which is the only reason the C1 Mk2 got moved up from 9.7 in the first place.
It is literally a Mk2 C1, with out all the things that make the Mk2 playable at 10.3.
So why should it only be .3 BR bellow it?
It is more akin to the Khalid and a Mk10 Chieftain having a Baby, than it is the Mk2.
I still think it should lose the L23, and the Challengers reload, and go down TBH.

Its 5 second reload and round are absolutely slapping folks.

Most people arent firing into the hull so they cant kill it.

Realistically it shouldnt have l23 and should have access to heat and such.
The tank is unfortunately performing incredibly well at its br and due to the fact it didnt draw attention such as the 292 for example.
It has a lot of good players using it, i mean go check my kd with it and im refusing to use L23 to keep it historically accurate.
The L15a5 isnt modelled correctly being a copy of a3 as well, however the tank right now is extremely good, it will inevitably go to 10.0
