Couple things i just wanted to point out about the FV4030/3

First things first, L15A5, as a IMPROVED version of L15A3 we have in game, Should have around 325-350mm of Penetration, NOT the same 298mm of penetration as the Earlier L15A3 round.

To add to this,(and i could be wrong with this)

I BELIEVE That the FV4030 had the Perkins CV12 it was installed with, cranked up to the FULL 1500hp the engine was capable of, and had been thoroughly tested During the MBT-80 Program. Not the detuned 1200hp that the Challenger 1 actually entered production with. as the FV4030, despite being a Challenger 1 Prototype, was still descended from the MBT-80, and the Extra horsepower was still thought as needed.

For the shell, I think i heard somewhere that some shell’s use there 1000m penetration as their 0m. Might be what’s happening.

As for the engine, not to sure but it would be cool to have better hp!

If you got this vehicle, are you still going to use the apds?

Would make the stock grind a little easier. Especially as it will probably see nothing but full uptiers seeing 10.0-10.7 premiums all the time

My biggest concern for the FV4030/3 is its BR. 9.7 just seems a bit wierd to me as we have basically no 9.7 line-up. Should just get dropped down to 9.3 with a slight fire rate nerf or given L23A1 and moved to 10.0.

Yeah i think they should just move it down to 9.3, and give its the Chieftain’s reload rate, instead of the Challengers.

probably heard that from me. and yes the 298mm is what chieftain APDS was doing at 1km.

FV 4030/3 wasn’t a descendent of the MBT-80; it was a completely separate project for Iran, and a descendent of the Chieftain. It retained essentially the same 1,200 hp power pack as the FV 4030/2 (Shir 1 / Khalid).

Once the Iranian order was cancelled the MOD decided it would be quicker / cheaper to make some tweaks to the FV 4030/3 rather than continue with MBT-80 so they went down that route.

Oh I forgot that some event vehicles weren’t spaded right out of the box, I would imagine the spading with APDS still better than stock HEATFS lol

HEATFS only sucks when you face tanks with a mass of ERA right? Shouldnt necessarily be an issue for the BR except in uptiers where it would face the TURMS

The earliest ones will be T-64A, T-72A then T-64B they all have composite so it’s hard to do any damage to them frontally with HEAT, then Merkavas are pretty much immune to them too, and then uptier you get T-72B which is better armored than TURMS even the T-64B is more armored, at least aiming at weakspot with one of the best APDS will almost always guaranteed kill, the lower plate of T-series is incredibly weak though, you literally just punch through them with ease using those 100mm APHE that the Chinese T-54s were using lol

L15A5 has a tungsten alloy core which is far denser than the previous copper cobalt core i believe in the A3.
The L15A5 round could penetrate the frontal slope of a T64A at 2000 meters.

ive wanted this round added for the mk5 and khalid and mk10 for ages and now its literally just Copy and paste L15A3

9.7 gets downtiered a lot the issue is its getting a 9.0 round at 9.7 so if it does get uptiered its effectively nutered.

it Being 9.3 would give it a really good lineup, without it being dragged into the hell hole that is 10.7

L23 is pretty useless at 10.7 bar on very specific tanks and angles.

Compared to giving it l23a1 and keeping it at 9.7

Shir 2 being the same BR as Shir 1 would be incredibly stupid and overall worse than it seeing 10.7 as it would be a challenger 1 tier of armour facing T55 AMD variants. It would be really unfair
