Could someone explain what is going on here?

I was in a helicopter and i shot a missle at a very lightly armoured vehicle.

What do you think that would happen here? i aimed for the ammo and it hit it. Now lets see the vehicle explode.

Lol what did i even expect? for the ammo to explode? I did.

Now lets see what would happen in the hangar if i simulate it.

As you can see the tank would get absolutely destroyed.

I would like to know why this would be. There is no need to delete this post admin.

Have you considered that the issue is the HEAT warhead behind your missile? Early BR helicopters are no the best for one hit to destroy.

i know but heat still can ignite ammo. In the hangar every time i tried the same thing happens. Before that i had already killed 2 other people with the same type of missile.

HEAT has very little spalling, in-game, it’s like APCR but Chemical. It will penetrate but the beam is so strong it will be almost no spalling.

that doesnt matter? the beam hit the ammo and it only turned yellow. In the hangar it exploded every single time i tried.

The spalling of the beam hit the ammo, and hitting it doesn’t always means such damage to make it explode.

The jet hit under the ammo as you can see in the hit-cam of your second image (the orange dot in the red circle is the jet) and the spall got caught by a piece of internal armour around the magazine.

You hit the bigass orange container which absorbed most of the cone, also ammo doesn’t have 100% chance to explode so it’s very unreliable.

If you aimed a lil to the right or even squarely hit the roof it probably would have 1 tapped

Considering my challenger got 1-tap by an alouette, I’m not sure about helicopter missiles being as weak as a heat-fs

Depending on which obviously. Z-11WA despite having access to 4 of HJ-8A, in the paper is worse than the AA.SS 11, specially in penetration and explosive mass, not to count the caliber that can differ in the beam radius. AA.SS 11 also has a larger caliber of 164 mm while the HJ-8A is 120 mm.

Z-11WA is a bit more modern than the SA 313B Alouette II but it doesn’t make it better, the best reason I could find of this BR difference of 0.7 is the 2nd Generation Thermal Imager, because both protection and mobility are almost the same in gameplay.

They also have a 3.5km range compared to the HJ-8As 3km range. It puts you in range of more SPAA, and makes you more vulnerable.

I don’t fully agree. The Z-11WA has a much higher top speed, while also being much more manoeuvrable. It allows you to quickly reposition and re-arm. However, I’m not too sure on whether it should be 8.3 or 8.7.

Yeah it’s funny a 5000°c jet of molten copper hitting ammunition and the shockwave/impact from that and heat won’t do anything xD

Meanwhile IRL a single small diameter heat warhead on a drone when positioned correctly, can detonate a tank/BMP ammo store.

and the developers are saying they are making the game more realistic. A long time ago in warthunder it was a lot better.

Your hit in the match goes underneath the ammo, your hit in the analysis hits straight on the ammo.

try it yourself then. hit under the ammo in the hangar and ammo still explodes.

Yeah agreed. I love how people claim it’s realistic when the entire top tier is basically paper specs.

AT this point, may as well just add paper/slightly feasible vehicles in. Flak 341/tiger 105 etc etc. Tiger 105 with a modified turret could work etc. Just give that stuff back, taking it away is stupid. The Maus is a great example, it was never used and would’ve been a big failure.

No?

Spoiler

Also:

This is one of the more armored vehicles around that BR. the 103 varians are rediculusly hard to kill (from the front and slightly from the sides)

yeah the whole point of the game is to make money and not for players to have fun. If you pay enough like n4cr here you will have fun though.

I’ve put in about 30 USD a year over 4 years? Not that much to have fun.

Where it gets expensive is AAA prices for a single vehicle model at top teir, no thanks, I’m not stupid.

sorry i meant the other person look at his golden eagles
