Both of you guys are correct in my opinion. Those well armored SPAAs are scary since its hard to strafe them, however, players who KNOW how to use a SPAA are also dangerous as Alvis describes.
it may not be a SPAA but its so easy to shoot planes with its HE(PF) rounds…I don’t have it, but I am able to do it on the Type 99 SPH with ease.
I was also describing being strafed in general whether they succeeded or failed to frag me.
All but 1 of the strafes against my R3 I was still alive after the strafe for example.
VIDAR? I died to 2? of the strafes cause you know… it’s a VIDAR. Can’t defend itself as well as a SPAA.
I’d play more SPAA but finishing tech trees.
It takes far, far more effort to model a completely new vehicle than one based on an existing family. “Copy paste” allows for more vehicles to be added in a shorter time. Without it, for example there would be no Hungarian JAS39 or Italian F-16, for example.
Those two also fall into the second benefit of “copy-paste”: representing historical vehicles. Pretty much every country except the US (kinda) and to lesser extent Russia has had a period where foreign vehicles have constituted a significant portion of their armed forces, if not the majority of even nearly the entirety. War Thunder is a vehicle simulator and it aims for at least some historical accuracy. So having the historically accurate imported vehicles is almost always better than having just a bunch of wacky prototypes or paper vehicles a la WoT.
as if ww2 ussr spaa is bad or as if the strela is bad…only sore spot on the ussr spaa line literally are the first shilkas but the one with the iglas is also good
I’m aware, I still have no good words to say about it. They used to develop more unique content, they now just use a lot of filler vehicles every update to make each update appear bigger than it actually is. It’s not really new content and it’s not good for the game to keep adding so much filler. You also assume I think those vehicles you mentioned are a positive thing for the game.
Pls don’t pretend this is some historical relevance or that WT tries to be historically relevant or accurate in any way in 2024.
The whole of the Finnish sub tree, half are unique vehicles.
And 4 of the 10 Benelux vehicles are copy-paste.
That facts don’t change no matter what conjecture you provide.
Hungarian Strela isn’t needed, Italy already has missile SPAA for that BR.
I partially agree. Even as a addition to Soviet tech tree I don’t see ZSU-23-4M2 as game breaking nor evidence of bias towards Soviet tech tree because it’s a vehicle that we already know it’s capabilities.
If I had the choice I’d be choosing something else. Talking about choosing, it doesn’t seems that any pool were seeing lately are begin accepted by votes but purely Dev’s will.
Now talking in NATO PoV, I don’t see a problem it begin added really, because a percentage of Soviet players are Wallet Warriors, players that have way too low skill and knowledge for playing determinated BR, because most of the time they’re the reason the enemy team loses. Free points I’d say.
But, not considering a vehicle in specific, I feel like this update will be another mediocre rushed thing. Something that I think is happening since late 2023.
We have entire sectors of land for Air RB and Air Sim that can be detailed up for Ground RB or Ground AB, so why doesn’t Gaijin go about that?
Those would be way, way more important than a single vehicle that they think is historically interesting (of which most of the big-name ones are already in the game).
Hell they’re at the point where they might start to go the WOT route and introduce complete paper tanks (exceptions already being obvious).
It’s the dead end. War Thunder isn’t a realistic game anymore I think, it’s just game. Gaijin actually, could fix this issue, but, as part of all my criticism towards the company is their lack of effort invested in the game. They could do better choices, but they don’t, they could add more interesting content, but they’re rushing updates.
I’ve played enough hours in another game to know that you can make realistic tanking on realistic maps a thing.
And no, not the WOT boys.
Gaijin is fully capable of hiring decent designers, they have thousands around here already. Hell, they can pay me and I’ll do it for them, just give me the tools, at this point.
But more filler just isn’t filling here.
They’re trying to get people to stick around with the grind and the want to complete vehicle collections, instead of what they should really want to do, focus on balancing maps, making fun experiences, and allowing players to enjoy new aspects of the game. The veteran guys are gonna be here anyway, until they burn out.
They’re more likely to burn out players with filler than they are new maps.
