Continuous Aiming for Ground Vehicles in First Person with Mouse

Intro:
With this post, I’d like to suggest a very minor and situational addition for PC players, but one that could be quite helpfull in certain scenarios. Due to how computer mouses work, it’s extremely difficult to let your turret/gun continuously turn in one direction like how they do in real life, especially in first person. Console players don’t have this ussue, as they can use a joystick which allows them to do this with no problem. The ability to do this in-game could be quite nice in certain scenarios, and I think I have a way to implement this.

How this would work in-game:
How I would implement this is as the following: your aiming cursor in first person mode would act the same it does now around the center. However, if you drag your cursor all the way to the edge of your gunsight your cursor will now stay ‘stuck’ here, and your gun will continuously aim in this direction until you move the aiming cursor in another direction. After moving your cursor away, the turret immediately stops turning automatically, and aiming goes back to normal until you hit one of the edges again.

Here is a recreation of what this would roughly look like:

Spoiler

As this could be quite annoying at times, or as some players might not want this at all, an option should be present in the settings to turn this feature off completely. As this mechanic could also potentially be a bit confusing to understand, especially for newer players, I would have this feature turned off by default, so a player would have to manually enable this.

Aditionally, there should be a setting to increase or decrease the area around the edge where your cursor would get ‘stuck’ and continuously aim. This is an optional addition, but it would be nice to see for more personal customization.

This feature could also be added for third person (or an option to have it in both third and first person), but this is far from necessary I think, as it’s already very easy to get your gun wherever you want in this mode.

Conclusion:
I believe this would be a nice addition to have, especially when it comes to scanning an area for enemies, and to more quickly find and engage targets. Let me know what you think though, if you like this idea, or if you would implement it in a completely different way. God bless!

I can understand how this makes sense even as a console player +1
