Hello everyone,

I’d like to propose a quality-of-life improvement for browsing user-made content on live.warthunder.com.

Currently, the primary way to find specific types of skins, reticles, or missions is by using the search bar and relevant #tags. While functional, this can be cumbersome and inefficient, especially for users looking to either focus on or filter out specific, highly popular content themes.

A prime example is the sheer volume of anime-themed skins and custom reticles. While I fully support the community’s freedom to create this content and understand that a large part of the player base enjoys it, those of us who prefer realistic, historical, or purely original designs often find these items dominating the browsing experience.

The Solution: Implement a Dedicated Filtering System

The most effective solution would be to introduce dedicated, persistent content filters alongside the existing search functionality. This would benefit all users by allowing us to:

  1. Exclude Content: Allow users to filter out items with specific popular tags (e.g., #anime, #waifu, #fictional) from the main browsing feed.
  2. Include Content: Allow users who do enjoy a specific theme to quickly narrow down their search without having to type in a tag every time.
  3. Improve Discoverability: By allowing users to filter out content they don’t want, it would significantly improve the visibility and discoverability of other types of excellent community creations (historical, fictional, artistic, etc.).

This change would be a huge step forward for the usability of live.warthunder.com, catering to diverse preferences and ensuring everyone can browse for content they care about more efficiently.

What do others think of adding a proper filter system?

Let’s gooooo!
I often find myself googling the specific skin I search for, because it literally more effective, then searching it on WT live. We need to have semihistorical, and historical filters!
Would be nice a BURN THEM ALL!!! feature for the anime content, but we can’t have everything.

Go to subscriptions and it does the same thing. Some things I can’t blacklist though like the #anime one itself but the others for some reason are ok

Only so people stop complaining about it. Let people enjoy things, please.

i completely agree with this. i dont care what people do with their own game and there is a argument about, ‘just use filters-blacklist it’ but here is the thing, lots of posters still dont use hashtag system which defeats the whole purpose of the blacklisting the thing. Blacklist button placement is being hard to press is another thing too.

There should a umbrella anime tag so we dont have to see anything related to that. I check for the sights and there are sooo many variations of this anime-waifu culture there is always something new there to blacklist again and again and it gets tiring.

You deserve an award +1
I don’t visit war thunder live for the exact reason of all the anime skins but you may save it.

Its not apporpiat for kida. Actual animai girls showing to much skin. Nit allowed.

+1 This would be a much needed addition for the site. In my opinion the whole site needs a revamp, the search is very inefficient and looks fairly outdated. If Gaijin chose to update the site it would be very important that they update the current site as not to loose all of the uploaded stuff allready on there.

Please, scrolling through that site to see half the garbage exposed to literally anyone who clicks on the site including minors. The game is rated T btw, Gaijin should do something about it before they get in trouble.

This is already implemented.

Although its up to uploader to specify tags…

Want my thoughts on this? Just use the 'booru system. Preemptively build up the tag system so illiterate people don’t make terrible tags, let the community add aliases for vehicles that people will frequently mistype and have moderators approve said tags and aliases. This way the community can contribute to posts and help content posters with adding the appropriate tags to posts, which many anime skin creators are in dire need of.

Which honestly does not work when you search for something else, like hashtag tank. It’s gonna show the post regardless if you have even a blacklisted tag there, as long as it also has the tag you are currently searching for.

I look for a Flanker skin (for example) and I’m bombarded with them anyway

Let alone the fact that a good chunk do not tag things properly from what I can see

There needs to also be a way to filter out AI generated content regardless of if this is implemented

It would be nice to be able to filter out the “universal camo” skins that clog every search result as well.

I’ll say it now so that no one can claim they didn’t know when the punishment comes:

As per Forum Guidelines, we don’t want to see any discussion about porn in any form (and I don’t care what you interpret as such, just don’t talk about it), nor do we want to see comments that contain incompatible statements against certain individuals / users or groups.

If you believe that a post on WT.Live violates the TOS / Guidelines, please report it on WT.Live itself or contact the WT.Live Moderator directly, but don’t discuss it publicly, especially in here.

Stay objective and constructive.

They should honestly force people to tag the stuff and delete anime/borderline nsfw posts that arent tagged as such.

Then add a button (that doesnt require login) to “show/hide anime” content.

While not solving all issues, it’d atleast clean up the site quite a lot.
Especially the usersight section is just borderline unusable due to people posting (stolen, without the creators permission usually) nsfw artwork as sights.

I need this gng.
Having a “historical” section would be cool as hell as well.

slightly off topic

It’s just kinda funny seeing stuff that my weeb friends talk about irl plastered all over the website. Didn’t realize how big anime was until stuff like this.
Doesn’t really matter, jsut an interesting note
