Can’t handle the new system?
If anything it makes it easier to see blatant matchmaking outcome rigging.
I had 12 ships between me and the enemy, teammates that floated out to literally the middle of the map. I was being pummeled the entire time for no apparent reason other than presumably because my previous battles had high scoring matches, so it was my turn to be throttled.
Why would I be targeted by multiple ships at 12 or 13 km away when my teammates are all inside 8 or even 6? 20 minutes Domination of a single massive A point, and I’m pummeled from nearly start to finish while my team caps, holds, and wins, while I get never a rest from repairing/fire fighting, minute long reloads on main guns.
I saw yesterday a forced loss where the enemy team’s AI ships all push for the 3 objectives, capping them. Meanwhile none of my team’s AI ships go anywhere even remotely close to an assault position for a point. This was in Battleships. The AI enemy team capped all 3 in mostly Battleships.
With less agency comes more observation. With observation comes the awareness of patterns.
It was already obvious that the game forced a loss here and there because despite capping 4 points and getting 9 kills, I would still lose because the other team was not only uncontested otherwise but also zealously aggressive at re-capping points.
Now with the low pop in Battleships queue, the AI has to get more involved.
I saw an immediate uptick in bots for most of the day in USA time until the evening. There seemed to be normal population in evening, but still a lot of bots. If NAB has to be catering to the “Just got off work and cracked open a beer, time to be mindless” crowd, why not make an entirely new game for them. Maybe call it “Warthunder Go.”

I admit I have a strange approach to games. I will play them with default settings because I’m curious what the game developers consider “Intuitive” for new players. It’s within reason. I have custom key bindings for several things. However, what I find is an entirely illogical UI, completely pointless Tutorials that only explain what little intuitive aspect of the game exists (“Go to the circle marked A to capture the point. This will drain the other team’s tickets.” Whoever heard of such a concept??? THANK YOU TUTORIAL!), and an irritating, pointless tooltip and Help screen which is assigned to F1, an important key that should otherwise be used for actual controls.
An example of bad UI would be Flaps. Why is there not a plane flap toggle button assigned per aircraft? Why am I finding out my fighter plane doesn’t have Combat flaps, only Landing Flaps, that activate even though Gear is not lowered, while I’m entering a dog fight? Why do I find this out from some blurb of tiny text or lack of maneuverability?
In the new navy update, why are the compartments just Squares on a line? How am I to know which end of the ship is which without having to correlate the HP bar with the Damage Report window?
Why is Auto Attack Guns targeting Default key for boats/planes, boats, or planes, a simple and common Hotkey like E which should possibly never be pressed off of Boats/Planes in the entire lifespan of a Naval player’s game experience, but the gun swap default is the most inconvenient stretch of the hand with Ctrl+E which can occur accidentally in a moment of panic, losing control of main guns without knowing what happened. This is actually how I discovered the main gun / aux gun swap hotkey. I had to talk in chat and get no response for several games except some annoyed players’ reports which surely accumulated eventually toward a chat ban.
Now I’m learning there is a hotkey, or there was… for changing aim sight between Main and Aux guns, but this wasn’t in a tooltip? There’s so much insane crap in the UI and overall game design that it just baffles me how people are expected to play other than to study the Controls menu and then google what each Option is because there’s no description at all!!! 12 years into the game we finally get some tutorials. If I loved and frequented Reddit, maybe this wouldn’t be a problem, which is all the links that exist in basic search engine because the forums are so obliterated with locked or deleted threads that nothing comes up from them except 8 year old threads from an expired official WT forum. Meanwhile every patch update comes with a very bad UI redesign that often partially gets reverted. Do the devs have to have new UI each patch so they can compartmentalize the Version number?
Anyway, I suggest the devs revert the changes solely because it reveals auto-balance schemes within the matchmaking. Unless you are hoping people notice for some future planned redesign the playerbase will be ready for? I can’t comprehend the creative decisions at all. I think the AI bots were not designed with this aiming system in mind when they were programmed to balance matches for desired player engagement, so you get flaws like ones I listed already in one day of play, or @侍KAMIKAZE侍 .
And I see my post has been hidden by the community which apparently has only offered agreement or likes. So I ask if my feedback is meant for internal use, put me on the payroll. This is the most likes I’ve gotten in video game forum history, and I’m still offending people? Give me a break.
I think I’ll get this last tank from the current event and quit the game. If you would have asked me why I even like Naval despite obviously uncontrollable match outcomes meant to form a pattern of experience, I would have said “the aiming” which is the one component entirely removed from the game. I will not be rug pulled again. The only reason I’m still around is because it would seem like the right call from Gaijin to revert the changes.
If you guys want a more accessible slope for new players, create a different queue for pre-2.3 Coastal where aiming isn’t required. And drop Italy’s 2.3 boats to 2.0 while you’re at it. They are horribly worthless at 2.3 with near-constant uptiers.
And in a more general sense, write actual descriptions for the various settings in the control window. There’s no information for most of the settings despite having an entirely blank screen adjacent to them. You update the player profile pages to make them more casual friendly like we’re in some kind of MOBA which only succeeds in hiding information that was otherwise interesting and useful, and you guys put yourselves into a bind where people can’t into certain modes, and you’re apparently forced to dumb it down beyond belief, causing players like me to question all my actions in the past that were aimed at participating in this game for the long term. Nobody should be forced to keep Reddit open on a separate screen in order to educate oneself on what the different individual game settings and hotkeys mean. It is a God forsaken website and doesn’t serve as a database by any means because of the sifting required through garbage comments in hopes of finding the right page with the most relevant answer to a question that could have been answered so simply within the game’s actual UI.
Perfect example? WHAT IN THE ABSOLUTE F-WORD IS FMV VOLUME!!! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD IT’S SO INFURIATING THAT THE ENTIRE ADJACENT WINDOW IS BLANK EXCEPT FOR THE SAME EXACT WORDS AS THE LINE ITEM. CLICKING “SPEECH AND FMV VOLUME” BRINGS UP AN ADJACENT WINDOW THAT SAYS “SPEECH AND FMV VOLUME.” OFF TO REDDIT I GO TO HATE MY EXISTENCE. IT’S AN EFFING ACRONYM FFS. HOW IS ANYBODY SUPPOSED TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THAT IS!!! THE WHOLE SCREEN IS EFFING BLANK!!! And instead of fleshing out stuff like this, you just gut the entire aiming component from an underplayed game mode to make it more accessible to people that don’t have time to learn all these details.
While we’re on the subject, WHY are player radio chat messages under the same exact sound setting as the announcer radio chat messages!!! There are probably thousands of insane things like these two examples just blobbed into the mass of Options and Controls. That is probably the real reason only infinite time junkies are the ones playing this game instead of more casuals. There’s simply not enough time for casual players to fill in all these seemingly deliberate blanks.
As for Hidden by Community, I’m trying to have a sense of humor about this. I even said “hit the nail on the nail” which was a subtle joke referring to Owen’s “leg out of your leg.” Come on, people. I’m good natured.
Can I get an actual dev response for why this was changed again?
Why did this have to happen? Please. Why does this keep changing?
It’s a prank on me? Why is “Information” the least often clicked button, the first in line of where someone might click en route from where player had to click to bring up this window? Shouldn’t it be Crew, Mods, Custom, Test, Change, Info? From bottom to top. Regardless, why is the size of the window shrunk and buttons shrunk? Always a change, every patch. This is insane. Have your guy make 20 versions of this crap, and have a vote. Use that vote for feedback to make 5. Have a vote. Set it for a patch. AND THAT IS YOUR GAME UI FOR THE LIFE OF THE GAME.

Gaijin’s official response to Naval players that dislike the new AI aiming update:
This is literally me:
It’s over.
20 hours between post allotments… been waiting 4 hours. Post got big. Delete if you dare, but TAKE THE FEEDBACK WITH YOU.
