Is this extreme desync or something where I cannot see over a crest, but someone is able to shoot me? IE I am behind a hill, I cannot see over the hill in my gunsight, I can see over the hill with my binos, and see an enemy’s cupola machine gun, that’s it, I can not even see his cupola. I then get shot through my mantlet or even LFP. This happens constantly.
I know there is a ‘fake surface’ on snow maps that people can shoot through but this happens in desert and non snow maps (not that this would explain the issue).
Have you tried viewing the server replay to see how it looks from their perspective and how the shot moves after being fired?
(Server replays can be found on the main War Thunder website and you can filter by games with your participation)
The “fake surface” is not only snow, but sand aswell. It’s basically the same as “grass” and thus can be turned off…
Also, sometimes the terrain and objects visual model does not correspond with the physical model, even with the top layer turned off. Sometimes it’s bigger, sometimes it’s smaller. Some trees typically have smaller appearence than their physical model actually is, so you can take them down without visibly touching them…
Anyway, follow Necronomica’s advice and check server replays…
Are they arcing the shell over the terrain? Thats highly possible
The kill camera that plays when you die doesnt show the shell arc, so if it was a heavily arcing shell it’ll still show it flying straight (possibly through terrain/buildings). You’ll have to check the server replay from the perspective of the person who shot you
True. I found out about it myself today :)
