Console Symbol by the callsign

Before Battleye, I used to see a Console symbol by the call sign of some teammates in battle. Since the Battleye implementation, I haven’t seen the symbol anymore. What happened? Are they prohibited from playing, or has the symbol just disappeared since they have auto-aim available from the console?

Console gets auto aim?? Also im pretty sure the icon was to designate controllers, not necessarily console.

the auto aim is only against air targets not as crazy as it sounds.

Its not even aim just a tracking icon like you’ll see on aircraft in NF, you the player still need to aim at the aircraft in GF (I as a PS player think it should either be removed like to how we didn’t have such prior to 2018 or given to everyone like when it was first implemented).

What do you mean by nf and gf?

I’ve only played arb a little bit but I’ve never noticed any auto aim.

I play mostly sim and there is definitely no auto aim there. I guess the arcade mouse pointer could maybe have auto aim but even there i dont see hiw it would be implemented simce the arcade pointer also controls your movement.

Standard in game acronyms used by many here & in game GF: Ground Forces, NF: Naval Forces (although the latter is less seen) and also AF which wasn’t mentioned AF: Air Forces.

Well I guess that would explain it as you play SB & RB as neither AF modes have any form of auto aim, outside of the autotrack feature on consoles & iirc PC were you have to hold down a button to track an air target that you’ve selected but you still need to aim yet that’s off in SB & has been in game since 2013 (its off for me due to how many times I’ve eaten the ground if I’ve still selected a target 20km away while low to the ground as it yanks you to that direction).

Anyway if you go into test sail with any ship & look at the aircraft you’ll get a small grey box around the aircraft after you select it, this is what’s seen in ground battles & every PC player assumes is auto aim as you still need to have correct lead to down the aircraft.

Thanks for the explanation

The icon (at least on consoles) just designates if they use console, if you play on PS4/5 you’ll see the PS icon beside fellow PS users and controllers next to Xbox users, as opposed on Xbox you see the controller for PS players and nothing for fellow Xbox players. Afaik it has nothing to do with input device as I’ve got friends on console with keyboards and some on PC with controllers for reasons even I don’t know and they keep the little symbols

Also you likely already know but on the forums PS users have @psn at the end of their name and Xbox have @live though I don’t know why mine doesn’t

Also as Redfox stated the “auto-aim” feature is just a little grey box, I think it’s just for visibility and tracking as some people on console play on a couch ~10ft away as opposed to up close with a monitor

Yeah it only shows where planes are through solid walls and buildings or clouds yeah nothing crazy.

That is so unfair and unjust. Whatever mod you are in, as such as Arcade, Realistic or Simulation those console player have a grey square around a tank hiding behind a bush you would not see otherwise, and PC players get creamed despite their best honest effort? Console players should not be mixed with PC players. Period!

the little grey box (with target following), is only against planes in tank modes I believe. it does not help them find tanks

The PC players with a mouse, the console players with or without a mouse, and the PC players with a controller SHOULD NOT be mixed in Realistic and Simulation battles. Gaijin, do your job!

battle eye hasnt been introduced yet, and no we can still play just fine

It doesn’t exist in Sim and its only partially useful in RB if you’re a below average player, since most people can hear engine sounds or heli blades anyway and know where the aircraft is.

What are you crying about? They just told you the little square only exists in non-air modes and that it only highlights planes.

You were mistaken about there being auto aim and the square highlighting tanks. You have nothing to cry about.

A keyboard and mouse is so much more of an advantage over controllers in the arcade air modes and all ground modes and naval. Sim air is the only place where controller is arguably better than a mouse.

But console players arent crying because we know games like this die without crossplay and because we’re used to having to be much better than pc players to be on the same level.

ROFL AUTO AIM are you for real… In arcade I guess they do but you can make pc do same if you plat arcade I suggest you look in your controll settings but not in RB mate you get a camera tracker for aircraft and guess what happens 99.99999% of time if you use it ( does aiming right at an aircraft hit it??? Or do you need to lead your shot…)

it actually dosent anymore once aircraft below your horizon you lose tracker

not how it works at all… You dont get markers for any tanks you can click an aircraft and you get a tracker box on it you can then use a button to center on that tracker box ( but do you shoot down airplanes shootind dead center??? ) and if said plane is straight lining you would you rather push 2 other buttons then aim at him or would you just aim and shoot?

Not another one of these threads… smh
