For some reason the conqueror gun mantlet is weak to the 122mm and similar penning WWII conventional AP rounds despite the entire point of the tank is that it could be hull down immune from the 122mm.
However, anyone who’s played at least a few matches with the Conqueror will know that the 122mm loves to just lol-pen the mantlet and sometimes not even full go through and blow up inside the gun shield and overpressure the entire tank.
The way this gun mantlet is modeled is strange because almost everything I look at for armour values on the mantlet indicate it’s 200mm and it slims down to 150mm as you get further from the gun.
Also, The Tank Museum on Youtube with the “Tank Chats” in particular tank chats number #145 at around the 9 minute mark; David Fletcher says: “It was one the best armoured parts of the tank actually.” and just before saying that he claimed that it has 10in of armour.
Although, for that last part about the 10in of armour thickness, I struggled to find any sources indicating that.
Regardless, the mantlet is laughably weak and for some reason is modeled to be as thin as 89mm allowing for the 122mm to do the 122mm things it does, to put it bluntly.
Recently the Conqueror’s cousin, the M103, got a volumetric update which made it look a lot better but because M103s armour until now relied on being a multi plate troll for a strong beak and LFP. (Which it now has realistic armour as it was designed to be a hull-down sniper just like Conqueror) However, the Conqueror has the opposite situation where having the multi-piece armour model actually makes it singificantly weaker than it should and the Conqueror getting an armour remodel, so long as it doesn’t break other parts of the frontal armour where it now all of a sudden allows 35mm auto cannons to lol-pen the thickest parts of the armour (Which is what happened to M103 this update; 35mm autocannons can pen the turret face just beneath the mantlet.)

I think that bug’s been in the game for a bit. i remember about a month or two ago, I shot at a conqueror with my IS-6 and was surprised when my BR-471D penned the gun mantlet and instantly killed the conqueror. It was a desperate push too
