(This is kinda like a part 2 from my old post, lol xD)
Basically, I’m back, no worries, I can get silver lions, but I don’t really know what to get…
Reason I’m asking are because I feel all I could get now are good choices:
I could use a heavy tank, but apparently the Jumbo doesn’t have the best cannon
I could upgrade my m18 GMC, but I don’t need to.
I could use a better Sherman, but I could use other vehicles
M36B2 is a fair upgrade, but apparently the HEAT isn’t worth it.
I feel the M109A1 can be good if used, it’ll be my second 6.0+ tank, AND because it’s artillery, it has smoke shells… you can see where I’m going, right? FOG OF WAR BABBYYY
Below, I have an image of my current tier 3 and 4, and the research I have in it.
I would recommend the M36b2. It’s HEAT round is good for dealing with things in up-tiers, Jagdtiger, King Tiger, etc. But I would priorities using the M82 APHE round. It will one shot almost anything, and it has great penetration. The Jumbo is also still a good choice. It struggles in up-tiers, but it is great at it’s br and in down-tiers. You need to aim for cupolas with early Tigers, and Tiger Es, you need to to a barrel shot, but it is still good. But you should skip out on the 76 Jumbo. It’s quite sad.
I’d skip the Jumbos (Dumbos) and go with the M36 and the M18 in this BR range. I developed the Japanese tree in part, to check out an M36 with stabilized rounds and then they sprinkled them all over. Ah well. Anyway at this level the US still does best with mobility over armor. The Dumbos are there but they just encourage poor play and as you mentioned have a relatively poor gun. Now when you get to 6.7 the US gets so many great vehicles its hard to know what to include unless your buying more crew slots. Enjoy!
I would do the opposite…but there is no wrong choice actually…depends on player preferences…
TDs (M18 and M36) are usually better armed but much more vulnerable…they work IF you hit first and hit hard (i.e disable the target at least). The jumbos are much more durable…but obviously the gun cannot be as good…
Jumbos are very good when you are top tier…but lose their advantage when uptiered…however they are good “learning” tools as they forgive mistakes.
My premise is why try to out heavy the Germans and Russians when you have an advantage in mobility you can exploit for better results. Results will vairy based on map of course. Some maps force you into head to head combat (favor heavies) while some allow for flanking or have key positions that, if claimed early, make a huge difference (favor mobility). My observation is Jumbo players depending on their tank to save them rather than good choices and tactics.
also the heat shell on the b2, but now should i rush to pershing? as in get in m4a2 → m26 → t26? Dont worry about funds, i luckily gained 300k in one day and then a few days after gained another 100k from the battle pass (rank 7)
Played a few games in the T1E1 90, I do NOT like it.
ANY TANK on the game feels much better when the enemy is using it…once you get it it will feel weaker…EVERY TIME.
I dont know the T1E1…but the M26 family are GOOD TANKs…but what i say above is valid for them also.
They have a good gun with effective ammo, armour can take some hits ON THE RIGHT CONDITIONS…but it is not foolproof…and it also gets BETTER enemies than the tanks before them, of course.
They are easy enough to use…good mobility (for the type) and gun use (speed, depression, etc…). BUT as with any tank…you should avoid getting hit. Gun is usually good enough so you dont have to pinpoint too much…it becomes a bit harder on a uptier, but can be played in that conditions.
SOME tanks are “above average” in the sense they seem better than the opposition…in the American tree i felt that with LVT, M4(105), M10, Jumbo and M29…most others, including M26s seem “par for the course”. Some light tanks are not very effective (M50 for instance).
Bottom line…go for the M26s, but don’t have too high hopes…IMHO.
What I recommend doing is skipping the standard M26 and T25, and go straight for the T26s. Still grind the M26 line, as the M46 is very good. Most of everything in the M26 line is good (But the M60 120S gave me crippling depression) beside the actual M26 and T25. The Shershing, aka M4 T26, is an okay vehicle, get that one if you want. But back to the point, get the T26E5 and T26E1-1. They are both incredibly good tanks, with the Super Pershing (T26E1-1) being my favorite to play in the entire game.
