Currently the damage mechanisms in naval battles is rather vague even after the implementation of crew display map, which often causes confusions for new and inexperienced players. For example, why are some boats quickly eliminated by autocannon fire, while others (such as the notorious M802) are extremely tough under small caliber autocannons? Why are some destroyers prone to ammo denotation (such as USS Moffett) even if their ammo racks are all below the waterline, while others such as the USS Frank Knox are nearly impossible to be killed by ammo denotation?
Those two questions could be answered by showing the structure and distribution of inner compartments of the vessels, but currently it’s not very convenient to get an insight on the case. I know that compartments could be viewed by using decorators, but it’s not really explicit and easy to use.
So I am suggesting that a specified compartment display mode should be added for naval vessels. The mode should allow us to see
1)Whether the ship has inner compartments or not;
2)The detailed compartment structure of the ship
3) the detailed modules (and possibly number of crew) in each compartment.
The button could be placed below the “Show crew distribution” button in the damage testing interface, and a crude demonstration of what the mode would look like is provided below. (Just a handmade demonstration, the data does not meet the real in game status)
Feel free to provide any other suggestions in the comments below.
