Community Predictions for Future Premium Aircraft

All we can do right now is guess. Even if it doesn’t happen, the F.3 would still be a win, but that would depend on the Su-30 moving up in BR.

I believe anything can happen, so I’m not going to completely rule out the possibility of a premium Eurofighter.

Just give me the F-4E AUP with 4 AIM-120C-7 and 4 AIM-9M at 13.3 (not premium I hope) and I think I can easily beat the SU-30s

Yeah. We’ll see.

Tbh, the next premium aircraft I want for Britain is the Buc S50. Basically a Buc S2 with no CMs (I think) but does get RATOs. Might be a hell of a lot of fun at 9.0.

This poll has interesting options but you guys did not consider Gaijin’s intentions much.

Remember the premiums post in June? The one that Gaijin identified the problem as copy paste premiums in an update F-14D, Pucara, Orao, Fw-189, Jean Bart were indeed premiums. And some unlucky folks celebrated as “Gaijin communicates and listens us”

Expect more original vehicles sold and more copy paste inserted into trees.

Therefore my expectations are:

Britain: Harrier GR.9A or early Typhoon
Japan: F-15D
Italy: F-104 ASA-M or M-346 later blocks
Israel: Kfir 2000

I’d also like to point out that this situation is different from ground vehicles, where there are many more options available. The same logic cannot be applied here because the selection of suitable aircraft is much more limited.

For these nations, the available options are already quite restricted, and the aircraft listed are some of the most interesting and realistic choices currently available.

Copy paste premiums can actually be a good thing, especially at the higher tiers. They give Gaijin the opportunity to add unique and interesting aircraft to the tech trees without having to create an entirely new aircraft behind a paywall which would be incredibly unpopular, they should’ve added a Saudi F-15C instead of the highly anticipated F-14D.

Some of the options you suggested for Italy and Israel don’t make much sense to me, particularly when you consider what those nations already have. Israel, for example, already has the event Kfir C.10, so adding another similar aircraft wouldn’t be particularly interesting and would make people who worked hard for the Kfir C.10 very upset. The Italian options are also fairly uninspired and, in my opinion, wouldn’t sell particularly well. The F-104 ASA-M is a good example. The Italian F-104s already have a poor reputation among players, and the ASA-M would still be another aircraft without Fox-3 capability. It would therefore offer only a relatively minor improvement over the existing F-104S TAF rather than giving Italy a genuinely interesting top-tier premium. The ASA-M was an avionics upgrade to the ASA, but it wasn’t an AMRAAM-equipped variant.

This is also why I think more F-16 variants would be perfectly reasonable. There is currently only one Fox 3 capable premium F-16 at the higher tiers, and different blocks operated by different countries could offer their own unique camouflage, history and slight loadout differences while still being based on a familiar airframe.

At the higher tiers, though, the number of suitable aircraft naturally becomes more limited. I’ve tried to take that into account when making these suggestions with the help of others, which is also why I didn’t include the Brazilian Gripen. In my opinion, Sweden should be the nation to receive a top tier Gripen premium rather than Italy.

Ultimately, there aren’t an unlimited number of aircraft that can realistically fill these roles. I’d rather see a well chosen copy paste aircraft that makes sense for the nation than a more unique but poorly suited option that nobody is interested in playing or buying, or a completely new aircraft like the F-14D.

My friend, thanks for long explanation but Gaijin explicitly said there will be less copy paste premiums. Right here:

I choose those vehicles because each of them are domestic, and each of them can be placed in the tree.

True

I would love to see the top tier F-16C Block 52+ upgraded to Viper F-16V Block 72 with the APG-83 (AESA) Radar, JHMCS II and the F110 Engine.

Doesn’t the Taiwanese F16 already has the radar and engine?

I think we both know this is going to continue happening, and I feel like you’re setting the bar too high for what Gaijin considers a unique premium. Their definition of what makes a premium “unique” clearly isn’t the same as what you hope it’ll be.

I also want to address the discussion surrounding the F-16AM in the French tech tree. I was involved in that discussion, but I don’t think the same criticism applies to the aircraft suggested here.

The backlash against the F-16AM was understandable because it was a Belgian version of an aircraft that already existed in the game, making it feel like an unnecessary copy-paste addition. The suggestions here are different and would give each nation a more interesting premium option without simply repeating an aircraft already available elsewhere.

The way some premiums were handled in the last update caused a lot of frustration, but these suggestions are relatively straightforward and inoffensive additions that would give players more options without creating the same issues.

They are decent examples but bad choices

I would rather have a Block 50+ PoBIT, with Scorpion properly modeled.

You get the AN/APG-83, Scorpion HMD, and the GE-129 engine.

The Taiwanese F-16V uses the F100-PW-220 engine, But it does have the AN/APG-83.

The F110 is in the F-16C Block 50.

Taiwan DID order some F-16V’s with the F110-GE-129 engine, but the one in game is a Modernized Block 20 to F-16V standards (which, according to Lockheed, counts as an F-16V)

Give Tornado

No. The Taiwanese is an upgraded Block 20 Airframe with the F100-PW220 Engine with 24’000 pounds thrust. Greece is indeed doing this too for the Block 30 Airframes and does not upgrade their enghines either.

But Greece is upgrading the Block 52+ Airframes too. Which with the F100-PW229 and F110-GE-229 Engine and the better Airframe its the better F-16V Block 72. These engines have 29’000 pounds of thrust.

Taiwan will ge new built Block 72 Airframes too. I think one is built and not delivered yet.

Oh, that change was positive. But the problem surrounding premiums was not that. The problem with premiums are not them being copy paste, it was premiums becoming too original to be a premium. A content creator argued about anime bait packs, 1000 other creators argued about the real problem (F-14D) but Gaijin went along with the easiest route of just ignoring.

Here are comments from the same thread:

The obvious solution to the premium Eurofighters is to chuck DA.1 at the Germans and DA.2 at the British - the first few years these aircraft were flying they were fitted with Tornado RB199 engines instead of the EJ200s.

This will be a significant hit to the performance in terms of time to altitude and acceleration for the Typhoons, bringing it much more in-line with aircraft like the Gripen and F-16, and if you also take the dual AMRAAM racks off the wing then I firmly believe DA.1 and DA.2 could be at 13.7.

Unfortunately the Italians don’t have an equivalent Eurofighter airframe but luckily they actually operated the F-16, which would slot in perfectly as a 13.x premium that hasn’t been forced in through a subtree, unlike certain Benelux options.

However, I do think DA.1 and DA.2 are somewhat needed in the tech trees to fill the gaps between the F4 ICE / F.3 Late and the Typhoons, but I also think they’d make great premiums, so I am a little conflicted.

I know they ordered Block 70s, which have the F110 engine, I’m pretty sure some have been delivered but I’m not positive.

I would’ve preferred those to the F-16V in game.

I personally don’t care what top tier jets get added. It’s only one small part of the playerbase that mainly plays top tier air rb… but if you enjoy that… enjoy?

There are a lot of great opportunities for some interesting premiums to come in at lower tiers. Lots of niche variants and prototypes which would be suitable.
I think it’s strange that Germany lacks a regularly available premium late Bf109. Sure, we recently got the Bf109T which was very nice to see but that’s a big wing Emil at 3.0. A subvariant of the Gustav (not the Zwilling which is rarely available and inaccurate) would be a good one to have - perhaps a G-4 since that’s basically a G-2 with a new radio and wider wheels, perhaps the G-6 and G-14 should be redone and correctly split into about 5 G-6 subvariants and I’m not sure how many G-14s, plus adding all the /AS versions, so some of those could be premium.

I just want the F-15DJ man.

Gimme my Twin Seat Peace Eagle.
