Cool and all but why is America getting special treatment in this case where they never wielded this tank and was only exported?
Cuz muh murrica
Can’t anger the US crowd
Ok, that makes sense. Thank you.
Ah shit, derailed another topic because I can’t stop arguing.
Anyways, either the US shouldn’t be getting the Commando Stingray or Germany should also be getting the KF41.
Nice and clean thread, wonder what happened here :p
Now will we see Stingray II as an event vehicle
Stingray II as premium, M551 Stingray as event and M41 Stingray as a BP vehicle
So many options
At this point Japan is the auto cannon nation XD and we still have B78 and CCV maybe even another RCV variant then and there not to mention the Thai autocannon stuff.
Really nice to see the Thai Stingray finally coming, even with that good looking digital camo :p
We can’t wait to see what else you got for the Thai sub-TT, but ofc we hope to see certain (non pure C&P) vehicles, which definitely should be represented, as these are also Thailands most well known used and/or own developments;
- Type 76
- Porborkhor 105 Attajhon
- Type 21 (FV101)
- BTR-3E1
- M60A3 TIFCS
- T-84 BM Oplot-T
- M163A1 TVADS
- M901A3
- M48A5PI
Perhaps also meme-ish vehicles like the M60A3 TTS with “dedicated” wood armor all around.
Even though not safe; Thailand maybe tested K1A1 tanks back in 2009, which could be an alternative - also a proposed K1A1-TH variant, but this one sadly never made it beyond paper.
o7
That’d be nice to see, especially for the HESH
Metal box with 2-pdr go pom pom
Wood armor is too OP, can’t have that
Monk with Type 21, thermal sight and wood armor wants to know your location
Probably not… Stingray is in use by Thailand and made by America. The Oplot is derived from the T-80UD but not produced by Russia / USSR. Closest example is the F-2A. Its derived from the F-16 “Agile Falcon” and yet the US doesn’t get it.
It’s produced by former Soviet territory. Just like Bhishma and mig-21 bison.
Good point. Although I don’t think the addition of Indian vehicles was any good either. But in my opinion, it’d only be added to the USSR tree if the USSR tree was lacking.
They aren’t. The T-84 fills the same shoes as the other T-80s.
Japan don’t have any T-84 Equivalent and its one of Thailand’s main MBTs.
Will this be on the new fifth line or the original Japanese tech tree?
I suggested this tank in 2017
https://old-forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/362092-light-tank-stingray/
2 second reload???
This one is an early prototype / demonstrator of the Stingray tank. Essentially it’s what the tank was as-built before being offered to any nations yet. Changes like the Thai versions more powerful engine or optional (but iirc not actually implemented) systems like thermals offered with it wouldn’t be on the tank.
So basically it’d be similar to the Thai version, but with some visual changes like different mounting points, different smoke position. For the actual gameplay changes it would lack the roof mounted machine gun since there is no mount for it, and use a 535hp engine instead of the Thai versions 550hp engine.
They might also give it earlier shells than the M426 used by the Thai Stingray to put it at a lower BR.
But it’s not the only Stingray prototype/demonstrator they can add, there’s more to choose from. Essentially they can get a version that is functionally identical to the Thai tank in all but the engine and still have it make sense. But if they want a more powerful engine they should go for a later Stingray II or Stingray AGS instead of simply copying the Thai version directly.
They could also add both a very early Stingray and a later development, to give the best of both worlds and more light tanks to the US tree.
It’s not special treatment if it’s a distinct variant, they just shouldn’t get the specific Thai variant of the tank.
I’d wait to see what it looks like on the dev stream before I judge it.
