Combined Battles To Fix Naval

Congratulations, now you know what indirect fire is!

yea how you will implement in war thunder without ending in spawncamping? (that some BMP and BMDs already do)?

Bigger maps, larger spawn zones (perhaps a spawn region instead of a zone… perhaps an off-map tank depot that you can drive out of onto an arbitrary point of the battlefield, but not back off such that there’s no one or two places to target spawning vehicles?)

Adjust scouting mechanics (maybe make them tied to the Radio Comms skill too? Should probably do that anyway imo), better rewards for team coordination, more/better Quick Messages to also assist with coordination, and probably start shifting away from pure 3-cap domination matches to other kinds of matches, especially to support earlier-said larger maps and newer mechanics (for example, how about SEAD from the Ground perspective? Maybe something like the Naval Encounter missions, but for Ground?)

Just off the top of my head

yes and then will be fair for the rest of the tanks that will be not able to spot them and kill them? we are talking about ground gamemode, not any other event like SEAD

I had a bit of a think with infantry mode some maps could have navigational rivers or by the sea. Islands or Vietnam river. Some boats could navigate these so there could be a water spawn for small boats.

That could fix a forgotten part of naval called coastal

At that point that’s just a skill issue ngl

I really don’t fully understand fully how ground will fix naval. But maybe parts of naval can support some thing like infantry mode. We need some sort of enduring confrontation mode for Ground and a version for infantry. Boats could be useful for that.

yea i guess its skill issue to get bombarded from 40km away and you will be useless to do anything to stop it, SPGs are good as they are, if you don’t like them don’t play them

Well yes, it would be a skill issue to have such large maps and not being able to find some way of either flanking the SPG unit and taking them out, or scouting/triangulating them to call your SPGs onto them.

Rather, I think that fixing Naval would be a prerequisite to having a mode like OP describes work properly.

you want a game mode focused on SPGs, and i huge maps good luck driving 30km to see someone only and only to get sniped or CASed

Then don’t play it.

it will be a waste of time for the devs they are so many better game modes to be added

By the rebuttals given by you so far, so are all the other potential game modes a waste of time. The point was to pick them apart and try to see what would make them workable and attractive before discarding them wholesale, not out of instinct and “but I PERSONALLY don’t like the idea!!”

That’s like… all the fun in talking about game mode ideas anyway, trying to pick them apart and seeing what would make them work and fun, and coming in with complaints without specific substance gives no one anything to work on…?

No, I want a game mode that actually gives SPGs a proper role. Sure you can use them as they are now, and potentially even have fun with it, but you can feel them long for the long ranges and shoot-and-scoot tactics of mobile artillery as they were born for.

No different than the stock game mode, and at least with larger maps it’s a lot harder to narrow the teams down to 1-2 funnels in the map and camp. CAS would also be forced to search a wider area in order to find ground units, and the larger maps would also accommodate more SPAA positioning and tactics as well.

I say yes, but only for coastal boats operating and pre-top-tier Cold War tanks, maximum.

I mean, even with coastal boats you have problems like the russian coastals with tons of high-caliber HE rockets (the only nation to get working ASROC munitions for some reason…)

i meant lower tier ones

Maybe battleship spawning cost a lot of sp like a nuke and can be treated like a endgame option. Also good chance for gaijin to add anti-ship missle vehicles.

The smaller coastal boats with a few crew could be implemented as a secondary option to planes in RB, but it would need some BR adjusting.
The bigger ones, however, are a bit too out there. Even above 20 crew it starts to get a bit ridiculous with not much chance to fight back from the ground.

Seen this idea of “boss vehicles” as a nuke alt somewhere before. It would be fun.

We already have this, in naval EC.

Playable tanks are the missing part, the huge maps in naval EC are perfect for running convoys. And setting up ambushes. I find it wasteful that naval EC is not being polished, because there’s so much that could be done with playable tanks, troop transport trucks you can drive them and earn points for each division delivered to the frontlines if you ran out of SP for spawning tanks, there could be towed vehicles that you can deploy, some kind artilerry or spaa that is towed by trucks and deployed everytime the convoy needs to camp out and repair, or refuel tanks. (YES THE MAP IS THAT HUGE).

There’s also the factor of boarding troop ferries, landing ship assaults that tanks could partake on, travel on one landmass to another.

Day/night cycle could be a thing it would be like world war mode but polished, perhaps some cool finnicky features like ship horns, heavy fog near the shores to hinder the distance that cruisers and BB can see, providing cover for patrol boats, subs.

Naval searchlights aboard ships will be the BOMB in night/fog EC. These are quality of life features that would definitely transform naval altogether.
