Coastal Ships needs serious decompression with extra care or

I think the current status of Coastal is quite hopeless.

they are all compressed harder than ground coffee beans which wait for extracted into an Espresso shot in an espresso machine. Thanks to the Hard Cap made by Bluewater Reserve in 3.3BR. every single few 0.3-0.4BR steps of Coastal feels like 2.0BR different in Air RB to me.

also, there are some broken boats which are broken for years so almost feels like cheating(half-joking stance)
SKR-7 or PG-02 can be an example. typical Kiss up kick down t type of piece of shit. being weak against bigger class ships but can be nightmare to boats. Especially if the victim’s BR are even lower than those nasty bastards.

and those boats give worse rewards than their Bluewater counterparts since their Reward Multipliers are in the bargain but the cost of buying boats in both SL and GE is a rip-off.

(For Example, British Coastal Rank 4 LE Orla has a 6090GE price and 420% SL multiplier but British Bluewater Rank 3 HMS Diamond has nearly half price of 2980GE and 1200% SL multiplier. with exaggeration, You can buy 3 of rank 3 Bluewater prem which has higher reward-netting at the cost of 1 Coastal prem which has only 30% of the SL multiplier.)

If you start with a coastal-only deck, from reserve to 2.0BR. there only will be a full up tier of 1.0-2.0BR match which is filled with almost bots. according to my faint memory, maybe only 2 of the players in each team. and the match will end quite quickly if you cap the cap zone (because there are too few players on each side, so the total amount of tickets is too little.)

as long as Bluewater’s Reserves mainly sit on 3.3BR. if you finally get your first 2.3BR boat, you are literally fucked.
you will nearly always go full uptier match at 3.3BR and face [Proof that Gaijin are weeb] PG-02 or some big shits like German Drache. Those things will erase your boat within 10 seconds thanks to the ‘Controlling primary and secondary at the same time’ feature which was implemented at ‘Danger Zone’ by stupidity(only thinks about Bluewaters)

I can guarantee that grinding coastal without buying a premium boat or fully boosting research with GE is on a suicidal level of self-harming.

And, thanks to too few players compared to counterparts, Balancing with Battle Rating on the regular branch is also broken.

for example, HMAS Arrow which has only one Bofors L/60 is on 2.7BR while S-147(S-100/1944) with 7 autocannons are on the same BR. and superior USS Tucumcari/Flagstaff which moves faster and has extra firepower is on only 3.0BR.

and also can talk about HMS Peacock which has only one Automelara 76mm fitted on 4.0BR while the German counterpart albatross which is fitted with TWO Automelara 76mm are on 3.7BR. Oh, Albatross also have the ability to mount torpedo! while Peacock can’t mount any.

At last, Gaijin removed the ‘new’ naval reward of the battle pass but kept positioning the naval tasks into their battle pass just for annoyance.

I think the current status of the Coastal fleet is clusterfuck level and also feels like Gaijin is neglecting the coastal fleet at the ‘World of Warplane by Wargaming’ level of neglect.

I think we need complete reworks on Coastals to fix problems.

(Hyperbole)or just get rid of Coastal fleets and give them proper euthanasia and treat it as ‘it didn’t exist’ level.

seems the same to me since when Gaijin cut their line for Churchill AVRE and the sabbatical month followed.
and all we got after a month of neglecting was an Exact copy-pasted version of Italian Albatross with no extra features while Air got their F-14A IRIAF with unique arsenals.
(I enjoy adding F-14A IRIAF itself but feelings are mixed)

I believe I might’ve seen you in a match today, actually :P

But yeah, Coastal BRs are utterly random it seems. PT-808 with just two 40mms (terrible firing angles) and what I’m pretty sure are some of the worst torps ingame (slower than most other boats, low explosive filler) is at 3.3 next to monsters like the PG-02,Chikugo,etc…

And has to face SKRs and the like.

(Whisper) Check Mk.20 Bidder Torp at HMS Blackpool

Still I agrees that PT-808 has some bad torp because they shared torp with frigates…

Because of the unreasonably high BR for T51 and the long wait for the game (up to 27 minutes), I use a special tactic - I hide behind a rock until the end of the game. hehe.
Thanks to the developers for the necessity of studying revolutionary methods of survival and their game.

Decompression would be good. If not that, then reducing the BR range from 1 to .75 would work.

(Chiken and Egg) Problem is that decompressing the coastal BRs would increase wait times even more and make it even less popular, which would make wait times increase which would… and so on an so forth.
What I think they need to do is make the grind much less of a pain. It takes longer, play time and in RP wise to advance in boats than it does in air or ground. Most people only play naval because they can farm SL with it.

Used to play a lot of coastal and had a blast until every match turned into me with a PT Gun boat with 50s and the other team with 7 destroyers makes the game mode not very exciting or fun to play.
My way to fix it would be like Air vs Ground. you should be able to bring coastal into blue water but not blue water into coastal think it would make for some more fun game play.

Or a slow, barely armed tugboat against both gofasts and destroyers. fun fun.

there are deff some BR changes that need to take place to make Coastal fun to play again.

I really think they should be remerged into one tree but with separate starts. Two coastal lines and three bluewater lines.

Just from my few matches in the Alcione all I really find it useful for is getting assists for the wingman wager. Other than that it’s completely outclassed by SKRs, FKs (Frank Knoxes) and Moffetts.

It’s just sad.

That was also what I was thinking for quite some time; all-coastal matches with a couple of caveats.

  • This rule will apply to all boats across all BRs, regardless if you are at toptier or not.
  • Only reserve destroyers that are at 3.3 (Litchfields and Frunzes) will be allowed into these coastal-only matches (that’ll be omitted if that means stuff like Fairmiles and Pr.123Ks’ll suffer)

Tbh i wouldnt even let the reserve blue waters into Coastal. Its a slippery step at that point. Coastal used to be a blast was chaotic Guns a blazing holding points and doing anything you can. the biggest thing that should be allowed are the frigates. Which are still BIG bois but not stupidly big. I mean my PT59 isnt doing anyhting to the frigates but they are at least not as Imposing.

That’s fair. Weaker armament too.

Playing 2.3 coastal is 10 out of 10 full uptier, you always get a 3.3 no matter what, PG-02 or whatever is there to slap you. Boats without a torpedo and only 20 mm MG’s have the advantage of being the first to sink. But this is obviously intentional, as this seems to be a pain threshold where one or the other either gives up, continues bitterly or buys something from the premium section. Basically, nothing will change, I wouldn’t count on it.
