Inadvertently a 0.7 BR mm would actually balance the mode out extremely especially with how the devs don’t seem eagerly to just decompose this mode, balance is utter abysmal even on the same BR.
One meta is fast firing HA LAA motor boats, the other is slow yet heavy & LA heavy cannons, both have their pros & cons, yet when they meet it’s usually the latter that beats them out eg: Minesweeper Schütze Vs Sloop Arras & both are very OP against surface targets in their own right, Schütze cons are soft while Arras has no AA & stem/stern blindspot.
I personally disagree on the Project 35 point, it only seems OP due to how much it’s spammed yet the vessel has two critical issues that don’t make it OP anymore, I’d personally worry about an Ayanami class (1958] destroyer (Rank V BR 4.3) as that’s incredibly OP an the only thing that make it OP is down to a dev error.
Even then other trees have effective coastal counters to a Project 35, eg Dealey class Ocean Escort, Isuzu class Destroyer Escort, E50 type Frigate, Albatros class corvette, Type 12 ASW Frigate, Type 41 AA Frigate, Buckley class Destroyer Escort (especially with just the secondary batteries), Chikugo class Destroyer Escort, Restigouche class Destroyer, aforementioned Ayanami class Destroyer, Project 133.1 (DDR)/Project 1331M(USSR) MPK/corvettes (DDR is more deadly due to the AK-725), Project 50 SKR/frigates even along with the Project 35 itself & Project 159 SKR/Frigates.
At 3.0/.3 it’s definitely harder but again the supposed “coastal” vessels there’s the River class frigates (RN/FNFL), Akebono/Ikazuchi class Destroyer Escorts, Arras/Marne class Sloops (gods Bougainville class when?).
Mild error there, it’s in an Escort destroyer form of a Town class (1940) destroyer, meaning it’s worse than a US Clemson (was typing this prior to fifth reply).
