Cluster and Fléchette Munitions Infantry Discussion - Everything Exploding Everywhere

Infantry Cluster Munitions Discustions

With the recent infantry testing, I’m putting forward a discussion focused on cluster-type munitions and submunitions, and whether there’s a place for them in infantry mode from a gameplay perspective. The core idea behind these systems is area saturation instead of a single explosion, they disperse multiple smaller effects across a wider zone, creating pressure over space rather than a single point.

In-game, this could translate into tools that cover larger areas, deny movement, or pressure groups of infantry, especially in open terrain or around objectives. These munitions are generally more anti-personnel focused than anti-armor, meaning their primary role would be against infantry and light targets, though they could still do some damage to vehicles depending on proximity and type. Deployment could come from vehicle-fired rounds, air support, or indirect systems, depending on how far infantry mode expands. There’s also some precedent for experimenting with broader area or specialized effects weapons like what was seen during the April Fools “Nuke Thunder” event with the anti-radiation missiles having cluster warhead, showing a new area-impact mechanic. Most of these would come from aircraft as this is the most common deployment method for the game.

Some of the risks is these munitions can easily cause friendly fire events which is not fun but overall vehicles like tanks would be immune but light vehicles like a car or hummer would likely not be enough.

I am wondering what types of cluster type munitions you would like to see and the deployment possibilities that are out there. But also how to balance it in the context of Infantry mode.

I agree
but they should not be limited to infantry mode
cluster munitions have a long history of being used in SEAD/DEAD missions, and being one of the most effective munitions against massed armor like you see in ground RB

true its just some munitions like Flechette have 99% of there value in infantry. You could bring them anywhere but why? They would bounce off a tank unless its open top or something. This was why originally cluster was not added I hear next to no game play value but now there is value. In the video it seems to be light vehicles from what I see like trucks not tanks I’m sure it could damage a tank IRL but in game a broken track, mg or optic is nothing. IRL a busted optic is really bad not shown in game though.

Never mind I see a tank but I dont know how damaged it is.

Okay there is a HEAT bomb option from a report I read. Probably enough to pen the roof of a tank but its a RNG thing I can see why the snail was slow to add it you can get really lucky with the cold war bombs and get lots of kills. WW2 though is more anti-personal based. Still for infantry mode these munitions will be valuable at clearing roads and convincing players to stay indoor.

I refuse to participate on any of your votes as long as they’re public.

Nothing personal, but the incentive to be against any relatively popular proposals in public is very thin, I’ve seen deranged creeps in the past tagging people for being against popular stuff.

And while I agree on this particular proposal as a personal note, don’t be suprised that your threads don’t get much bigger traction because of the public vote results.

its is, that bomb is designed to be used against armored units, as well as other vehicle targets

and its submunitions can easily pen and destroy MBTs

im sure the snail will find a way they always do.

Thank you for the feed back I don’t go around doing such toxic things but I did not know others would go to war like that. I will consider that in the future.

But I have learned a lot of what the community will be looking forward to seeing in game an example being chemical weapons are a very controversial topic next to things like flame weapons for infantry and will influence my future infantry suggestion posts when its available. Hopefully this provides the infrastructure for people to talk about specific weapons and some suggestion posts can be made!

Thanks though for the message.
