Cl-13B Mk.6 AN/APG-501 Radar

Does it have a secret way to use it? Been playing This plane a lot it is very good, but im just wondering what that ‘‘Radar’’ does ingame It there when the match start but i just disable it cus it not usefull, idk if it just me not understanding how to use it or it just really useless. It not some kind of cannon CCIP? Prob not right?

It’s just a ranging radar.
IIRC it had a sight slaving functionality but dunno if that’s even modelled in-game.
It’s good in SIM as it tells you a fairly exact range to the target and eases gun engagements but in ARB it only triggers RWRs and has zero other functions.
( I recommend you talisman and expert the plane, it’s an insanely good grinder)

Yea i guessed it was useless, I did expert it it is so nice but it sad that it face supersonic planes tho even tho it the plane only real counter (apart from the stupid F4C)

The AN/APG-501 is an X-band ranging radar meant to specifically help you aim better by automatically calculating the bullet drop and range for the gyro gunsight inside the Cl-13’s cockpit when you have a target in your sight.

Pretty much all the F-86F Sabres have this exact feature for their AN/APG-30 radar as well, so it’s really not that special for specifically the Cl-13B Mk 6 despite it having the AN/APG-501.

It’s honestly only useful if you play Simulator battles or use cockpit view.

Alr thx

Abuse the extreme energy retention.
Go for prolonged horizontal turns to bleed enemy speed and come out on top. Not even supersonics at that BR can keep up.
Do pay attention to properly dodge enemy fire by rolling slightly when the enemy gets a chance to fire at you.
It’s a crackhead plane when played properly. Supersonics are also a non-issue, especially if they commit to a turn with you.
That said, start off every match by flying straight line up to 840 true airspeed then pitch up while keeping said speed ( around 15° up, just don’t climb too high, 4km should be plenty). You should outclimb every subsonic and even most supersonics. After that you can freely pick engagements.

Nice im gonna try this! Thx!

Also what is the most optimal dogfighting speed? i tried some and i found that 700 pull the hardest it might be me

IIRC that’s the soonest your slats open up.
Once those are out you get a lot of extra true pull and get even better retention. ( Still, do not fall below 550 ish km as after that you’ll start losing speed more rapidly)

IIRC? what that

IIRC - If I Remember Correctly

oh ok

Slat start to close around 770kmh IAS so optimal dogfighting speed is 550-800kmh

About there yes.
Keep in mind I’m not the Sabre hyperchad unlike some others but that info should still be useful.
