Introduction
The Soviet Churchill Mk IV was a heavy British tank sent to the USSR through the Lend-Lease program during World War II. Built for toughness, it was heavily armored and packed a 6-pounder gun, making it great for taking on enemy defenses and helping infantry push forward. While it wasn’t the fastest tank around, Soviet crews appreciated its ability to take a beating and keep fighting, especially on the brutal Eastern Front. The Churchill Mk IV saw action in some intense battles, like those around Kursk, and proved it could handle tough conditions and stubborn German defenses. It might not have been flashy, but it got the job done when it mattered.

History
The British Churchill Mk IV, introduced in 1941, was a heavily armored infantry tank designed to provide support to ground troops, with a 6-pounder gun and thick armor that could withstand most German anti-tank fire, though it was slow with a top speed of only 8 mph (13 km/h); the Mk IV variant, produced from 1943, featured a cast turret for easier production and was the most widely built version, seeing action in key Allied campaigns such as the Normandy landings, the Italian Campaign, and the Battle of the Bulge, where it played a vital role in breaching German defenses and providing support for infantry assaults; despite its lack of speed, the Churchill Mk IV’s exceptional durability and ability to cross difficult terrain earned it a reputation as a reliable and resilient tank, essential to the success of many Allied operations and contributing significantly to the eventual defeat of German forces in Western Europe.

Soviet Churchill IV History
The Soviet Union received the British Churchill Mk IV tank as part of the Lend-Lease program during World War II, where it quickly became an important asset on the Eastern Front due to its heavily armored design and ability to withstand significant damage, though it was slower than many other tanks, with a top speed of only 8 mph (13 km/h); the Churchill Mk IV was equipped with a 6-pounder gun and thick armor that could resist most German anti-tank fire, making it effective in breaching fortified positions and supporting infantry, and Soviet crews used it extensively in key battles such as the battle of Kursk, where its heavy armor and firepower helped them take on German defenses, and later in the push toward Germany, where its slow but steady advance proved valuable in advancing through tough terrain and urban environments; despite its limitations, the Churchill Mk IV earned a reputation for resilience and reliability, and Soviet forces appreciated its ability to endure direct hits, often modifying the tanks with additional armor or adapting them for specific roles like bridge-laying; by the war’s end, the Churchill Mk IV had become a reliable and respected tank in the Soviet arsenal, contributing to their efforts to defeat German forces on the Eastern Front.

Its really weird that the mk4 isnt in the USSR tree. Seems like an obvious addition that should have been there from the beginning

There’s a few vehicles, such as the M3A1 Stuart, over 1,200 of them were sent to the USSR.

there isnt a regular matilda either, it seems like a missed opportunity for some good vehicles in the USSR tree

It would be nice to see it in uk tech tree too, its a nice improvement over mk3 since i think its turret armor is a bit thicker. Should be alright at 4.3.

Oh for sure, I realized Britain didn’t even have it just yesterday.

Yaaay more copy paste.

It’s not even in the game yet.

It is quite a bit different and offers a new armor profile and cast turret design, it is also the most produced variant of the churchill, it would also be the only one to offer good firepower and armor protection at the same time.
ps: i just noticed, didn’t it use the mk V version of the 6 pounder instead of mk III?

This would have been cooler for the Battlepass than what we got, tbh.
