Definitely not the same but its known they do collaboration but for the bulk of military equipment the technology needs is in the realm of semiconductors tend to sit in the 2010 era as they do the job and are more resistant to stuff like radiation. 3nm semiconductor is nice and all but there naturally overkill and more fit for high end computer no really needed out side of maybe some military robots. Overall North Korea is like there Southern sisters. South Korea has a educated populace and industrial base but South Korea does international collaboration. North Korea sits next to Russia and China both nations with a education and industrial base.
Concerning going toe to toe Russia has been importing war material from North Korea mainly artillery and some vehicles / parts. Bulsae-4 and loitering munitions have been sent from North Korea to Russia and used missiles as well. Overall the equipment is good enough which is all it can be asked of. It should always be assumed that military tech when developed by a nation works unless proven otherwise.
For the sake of Gaijin we know little about the vehicle so there going to have to make a lot of guesses but that’s just how most military tech is since the 1970s.
One thing we know about the Chonma-2 is that from a defector that the North Koreans somehow got there hands on a export Abrams (guy was talking about how the top brass was freaked out about a American tank) The guess is the tank came from the middle east and smuggled out not impossible. But as it comes from a defector how true it is is up to discussion. It could also be a different captured tank.

technology transfer isnt all-or-nothing, russia and china certainly cooperate with NK, but that doesnt mean they transfer their most advanced technologies or manufacturing capabilities.
states routinely export downgraded versions of equipment or selectively share technology to preserve their own military advantage. We have many such examples in game.
its neither in russias nor chinas interest for NK military to be stronger than to be a mere deterent to SK and US.

The fact that a missile may use older chip doesnt mean any country capable of producing such chips can build a modern missile.
theres stuff like software, inertial navigation, radar and infrared seekers, precision matching, secure datalinks etc.
russia using NK ammunition or missiles in Ukraine shows those weapons are useful, but usefulness =/= technological parity with Western equipment.

Burden of proof lies with person making the claim, not with the person trying to disprove it. So far what we have for Chonma-20 is solely speculations and few curated media pieces that had to get NK censors approval to be released to the west.

But again, how this thing passes the suggestion check-up stage is beyond my comprehension. Almost all info here is made of "what-if"s and "maybe"s, which is something I believe should be kept as a suggestion draft but not the “complete” suggestion.
Nonetheless, my respect to the @ChieftainWarrior for doing in-depth analysis of possible outcomes (after all, NK suggestions made by you are among the most difficult to compile given the sources), even though I’d rather have at least 51% of confidence in data than close to none

A careful +1. It is a unique vehicle for the Korean TT coming soon™️ but such little is known about it I also can’t say I fully want this yet. Such critical areas as the caliber of the gun are pretty damn important no?

Yup, they sent an unknown number of Pyŏljji-3 SAM systems (‘M2020’ short-range SAM). They’ve also sent 170mm Chuche’p’os, multiple MLRS systems, ATGMs, including NLOS ATGM carriers, and a whole range of howitzers and other weaponry.
Yet to provide any tanks or APCs, however. Would be very interesting if they did and some examples got captured and studied.

I read it all, by looking at all stats you made i think it should be at top tier of top tier, as high as possible. It has superior everything apart from penetration and armor, like merkava, if this was any lower then merkava also should be lower in br, but i agree that while merkava would be 0,3 br lower from top, this thing would be at the same br or 0,7 lower from top.
BTW composite armor seems to be 300-800mm (i suggest 500mm, rest - 300mm is basically sticking out gun mantlet), size of area for crew inside can be estimated so gajing can decide what should be reload time manually judging by how cramped it looks in comparison with Abrams. Size of ammo (50-100mm) can be estimated by looking at size of ammo busket. Since a lot of stats are unknown, gajing would need to make completely fake tank, just like with merkava everything will be made up.
Composite armor on hull ufp is clearly made of three pices or four if you count also middle piece of armor.

I wouldn’t be so sure the armor wouldn’t stand up to APFSDS more than the Merk. The environment it exists in is different by a wide margin. It doesn’t have the same environmental privileges. Also the Merkavas have a 5 sec reload. A 6 sec reload is GOOD but it’s nothing special at Top Tier lol.
I don’t think it should go higher than 12.0 unless the armor is legitimately strong. We don’t even know the vertical guidance speed gaijin would give it. It could release with Oplot syndrome. It’s a really interesting tank, and shouldn’t be DOA because others might struggle imho.
Didn’t Gaijin say that’s all delayed now and they are unsure that’s even coming in the near future at all? So much for a unique ground tech tree worth spending time and money on…
Well all tanks struggle a bit under Russian bias, merkava is still at top, even though it has no autoloader and no armor, as it armor can’t even stop the weakest autocanon, like the one on bmp. Armor Multiplier against chemical rounds also is terrible from what i know, penetration isn’t the best. Merkava has only excellent reverse speed, while USSR tanks have medicore penetration, no reverse speed and impermeable armor, so you can shot merkava anywhere while you have to aim at lfp of T tanks to destroy them or at gun mantlet to disable them while they just go forward. Namer can be destroyed by any rank 1 tank, honestly they should add namer with just M2HB, it would be fair spaag/LT at rank 1 or rank 2. Merkava also surely can be destroyed by anything. At least merkava composite worthless armor on turret isn’t falling of, without it merkava would (be ugly) look like leopard 2a4 with composite armor or in worst case like advanced centurion (olifant) - i mean just turret. Merkava has horrible armor and to be honest it’s quite realistic if you look at mass, picture of its composite armor cut in half (multiple thin layers placed in blocks, if empty areas aren’t filled with liquid or semi liquid substance) and compare picture of merkava next to Abrams, it’s so heavy because simply merkava is huge, so mass is simply from size instead of armor. But it is still possible that turret should be much stronger, when all layers of composite armor are angled after all. So merkava is at top tier, just because has good reverse speed and good enough penetration to use against non Russian tanks. This Korean tank can have 5s reload too, give it 125 mm gun and instantly it will be super strong, with 115 mm gun it still can have 580 mm of penetration, Russian tanks have such penetration at top tier anyway.
It can be worse and have armor which will be made of dreams, like merkava that will block 50mm of penetration at max on hull and will be like merkava with no reverse speed, then it can be lower in br, while top will be occupied by south Korea mbts.
Merkava Mk IV LIC is the only MBT that can angle its armor even up to DM53 and creat Non Pens all along the side of the hull btw. No other tank does this. Not even the 90M or BVM lol.

There’s literally no real benefit to having an autoloader other than you’d be likely exempt from a Turret Basket 3D model BS. Other than that, you’re missing a crew member (less survivable), and can have your reload stopped without taking out anyone in the tank. Most autoloaders are longer than 5.0 secs. So again no benefits.

Different environment, perhaps different protection. But putting it at a high BR outlet because one tank you okay you feel like struggles doesn’t make good sense imo.
5 sec reload, high mobility, good reverse, only MBT that can angle its hull armor, one of the highest pen APFSDS, BS magic HE shell, and best gun handling.
Vs potentially similarly strong armor, 6 sec reload, far less pen, high mobility.
Idk how that’s to be higher BR if you’re proposing the same armor strength. Unless its armor is really really good. Don’t see how it should be well over 12.0 all the way to 13.0. We’d need to see.
I have no idea about merkava being able to angle its armor - bro, even bmp can frontally penetrate it, even if it’s angled, i never stopped any shell with my side armor on merkava, even if it has ever happened, it has to be very rare. I have no idea what magic has turret basket that don’t have other tanks, feels just the same as magach, honestly only Russian tanks have magic ammo in their carousels which often don’t explode and still can shot. In addition side era often isn’t penetrated by top tier darts. Merkava don’t has magic bs HE shell, 2 or 3 years ago it was nerfed heavily, penetration was lowered by half, it can’t overpressure tanks like t58. Its HE is very normal standard 120 mm HE shell, only advantage is this it’s programmed but still rarely useful. Turret armor give zero protection on half turret where crew is, parts which are hard to penetrate has literally nothing behind from frontal perspective. Russian vehicles always were biased, yesterday even t-34 blocked heat shell from side and jak 3p explodes all planes into many pieces in second after first hit if not instantly, damage is incredible and top tier it is just the same. Obviously i am aware korea will be minor nation, so bias may not aply. Merkava has 611mm of penetration, while leopard with much stronger armor has 653mm of penetration. Yes Russian tanks have lower penetration which is balancing feature due to them having super strong armor, however non Russian tanks have much weaker armor anyway, the weakest are Leclerc, jp type, ariete and merkava, other nations have relatively useful armor. Chonma having 31 mm of penetration less than merkava is still smaller difference than penetration difference between merkava and leopard 2. I suggest the same BR at top tier for chonma or eventually turn it into LT to place it at lower br. I am absolutely against this thing being lower than 0.7 br point from merkava, lets add it can carry penetrating grenade launcher, atgm launcher and AA manpads with exception if it was reserved for older model, but atgm is on this chonma for sure. When it comes to reload time - it’s just speculation, can be changed by gajing at any moment as they wish.
Grenade launcher on roof will destroy light vehicles, will be used as weird artillery and very effectively will blind people, even if gun will be blocked chonma still will have hkaps and very powerful atgm combined with great mobility. If grenade launcher isn’t grenade launcher but autocanon then you will get much more powerful moderna.
By looking at it, i see top tier material, however if you want it at lower br, then okay but without atgm (0.3 br lower) and without scouting (0.7 br lower) but it absolutely can’t be placed any lower.
