Thought I’d share this so why not; according to Norinco the PL-9C has up to 8km of range when ground launched

I wonder if it’s kinematically or seeker limited

Kinematics it appears

not very far, compared to 12km of AIM-9X’s 12km, which gaijin even don’t how to achieve so gaijin give it a very low drag

I mean it’s an incredibly slim missile.

not so slim, it’s basically a PL-8/Python-3 with conventional fin design.
and the FB-10A is also a example, which probably used the rocket of PL-8/9, has 18km ground launch range.

I meant the aim9x

I mean its literally a number without any context. Is it against target flying mach 2 at you? helicopter hovering, manouvering mach1 (lol nope), target drone at 100km/h?

Now that it’s been announced, what do we know about the pl-12a?

Nothing, other than it’s better than Pl12. Next to nothing anyways, we can’t even distinguish 12A and 12AE RN.

yep, lets hope its the pl12 ae

Come to think of it, is there even an official photo of the PL-12A? I cannot find anything about it aside from dubious English sources or just things not sourced at all. Allegedly it only has a better seeker, but that comes from one of those said sources.

Perhaps it might be the 12AE but designated 12A (in the blog, not irl) because the “E” could stand for export like on the PL-15E and PL-10E for example. This is just an assumption on my end however.

It’s kinda like saying there is a HQ-16F because the HQ-16FE exists, because I don’t think there is official proof of it too (at least from what I can find)
