The text on the side of the missile looks new but this does not look like a service missile. This seems to just be a display model of some sort. There is no clear distinction between PL-12 and PL-12A at this time.
What we know is that, so far, all in-service live ordnance will have a visible target detection device of some sort whether it be laser or RF based. This missile is smooth and does not have the large rectangular windows seen on live PL-12 ordnance.
I’ll try to find a higher resolution pic. I saw similar ones carried on other J15Ts as well, might have been training still, I’ll see.
Edit: these ones are models, I’ll have another look.
As far as I know, there is no visual difference between PL-12 and PL-12A
The only difference is that PL-12A is stated to have a range greater or equal to 120km, which is superior to PL-12, and also there might be some changes to the seeker.
I don’t think there is much difference, but likely they modified a few things, and as we have seen, most missiles for PLAAF seem to have gotten cleaner, so perhaps this as well.
I have only seen blue Pl-15s carried any way, might well have been training rounds, but that said, I am just digging for these things. I am having a look.
Any all white or partially blue missiles are not useful as a reference because they maintain the same exterior layout and shape as the earlier models. We will need to wait for in-service munitions to be photographed which could take some time.
Yeah, given 2015 PL-15 has never been seen live fired, and all of them are in fact blue or white as u said, so might have to wait, although the chance is really fading fast, PL12 is being phased out of service RN.
Any sources? I mean, not English second-hand sources.
I can’t believe there’s still many people believe Baidi-B, which be introduced at the booth of AVIC Cultural and creative products, is a real gen 6 fighter, and Wikipedia listed Chonma-2 Mod. 2024 as Tianma-2(lit. Chonma-2 in Chinese)…
