I don’t have the pics, they were in the old jh7a discussion.
i poked around in there and didnt see it, i know ive seen it somewhere.
A bit disappointing if it’s not a J-15 or J-16 since Russia is almost 100% getting the Su-33 and the F-15E and Su-34 are already in game.
My bet would be on J-11B and J-10B if we are matching character spaces in the leaks. Those are really the only options with the 1-3 character configuration lol.
Yeah. The other one will be J-12I, but that’s not likely.
Plus, Gzsabi liked my post.
Whatever they end up being, if they even are all planes, Im not looking forwards to grinding out 3 in a row. I don’t even have the mirage done.
I expect a restructuring of the Chinese air tree will occur sooner rather than later, mainly a branch off (a bit like that seen in the modifications of certain vehicles) from the main J-11 line, with the taiwanese line carrying on as usual but with the J-10A moved down and to the left of the J-11, not connected to the mirage but below it, if that makes any sense.
Confirmed.
Does anyone have some information on the weight class of the J-10B? J-10A weighs 8800kg empty while J-10CE on a Pakistan air-force brochure states the weight is 9750kg. I think J-10B might be slightly lighter than J-10C as J-10C added much more ECM equipment, WS-10 engine, and different radar. So maybe 9200kg? Somewhere around there?
^This is pretty important as it determines if J-10B with its new AL-31FN Series 3 engines will give it better thrust-to-weight ratio compared to J-10A, which offsets the extra weight.
DSI intakes might also allow slightly more thrust generation at certain speeds.
This site claims that its empty weight is 9750kg
I don’t think that is completely accurate though. There are some sources that claim J-10A is 9750kg when we know that isn’t the case.
I’m willing to trust this more, considering it comes from an air force operating the J-10.
J-10B is likely lighter than J-10C.
Should be a bit heavier than the J-10A, gets the AL-31FN-M1 engines and added extra avionics/ECM/MAWS. No exact numbers other than estimated 20,500kg max takeoff.
Yeah, that sounds about right.
It does release weight by knocking off the original air intake, the new one is lighter, so probably still heavier, but not by tonnes.
It’s a DSI intake and is much simpler in construction, which saves weight.
It’s really weird actually. Some people think J-10B/J-10C has gained weight, while there are also people who think that J-10B and J-10C are lighter than J-10A.
So, with the new J10B prophesied, again, I want to make a petition for a rework of the Chinese tech tree, it makes 0 sense to go from F16A MLU to J10 A to Mirage 5EI to J10B.
How much do we know about the J-10’s IRST system, is there a name. I am very curious about IRST systems in general as virtually every nation is shifting towards them. Is there any information on its range, resolution or even its name. This is very hard to find on the English internet.
I am aware it uses the standard eastern-block Laser rangefinder+search system combination but thats just a visually clear thing.
Thanks in advance.
