It was a colony still. Nonetheless it won’t go to France, there’s nothing tying both nations. Makes as much sense as suggesting Poland becoming a german subtree. And France already has a subtree with Benelux anyway.
France doesn’t need algeria to begin with.
whole meaning of a sub tree is to fill and help the country get into a missing feature so such as 5th or better cas plane.

No, a country being the former colony of an other has never been Gaijin’s justification for a subtree/vehicles to be added to one. Syria is one such example. The TURMS and Su-22 went to the soviets and not France.

Better example might be the Pakistan subtree. Former British Colony, ended up in the Chinese TT as a subtree
That doesn’t really change anything though. My point wasn’t that Syria is a subtree, but that being a former colony has never been Gaijin’s justification for where vehicles go. Syria was under French rule, yet Syrian vehicles ended up in the Soviet tree and not France. Same with the Phong Khongs going to USSR and China rather than France. Whether they’re subtree vehicles or not is irrelevant to the point I was making.
Because if we’re also looking at military, political and overall historical ties, Algeria has been using Soviet/Russian equipment, training and doctrine and has been aligned on them since its independence war.
Maybe because India was a former British colony and it is still a part of commonwealth and besides a being a standalone tree, Britain was the most logical tree to add India into the game.
Other option for adding India would have been as a Russian subtree but then player would have complained that NATO equipment is being add to Russia and Russia is already filled and has no space to add a subtree
