I was not saying you need to be a good tanker. You are just making strawmen arguments cuz you have no rebutle for actual arguments.
The point I was actually making is that, on average, more experienced players spawn CAS more, whilst less experienced players spawn CAS less. This is why it looks like your team sucks in matches with lots of CAS, it’s bc the best players aren’t on the ground.
If the goal is to spawn a plane, why even play GRB and/or GSB in the first place?
There’s much better game modes built for playing planes like EC SB.
GRB vs EC SB (Objective benefits of SB EC over GRB if you like flying planes):
GRB is a tiny map, at most 4x4 km across for likes of “Big Hurten Forest”, often way less. EC SB’s smallest map is 64x64 km across. Every plane, even mid/early WW2 piston aircraft, require significant space to do their jobs and be used properly.
In GRB, if I find myself in a nasty situation and dive down to perform an unloaded extension to reset a dogfight, there’s a significant chance that doing so will have me fly over the enemy runway and get blasted by their AAA or fly into enemy airspawn where they phase into reality.
In SB EC I do not have this issue and can indeed fly enough to create an 1-2 km separation from the enemy (often such requires traversing 10 km of distance! (say, 550 km/h chased by 500 km/h. You need 72 seconds for 1 km of additional separation which requires crossing 10 km of terrain to generate.) to give me turning room to try and get onto their six or begin a vertical energy trap.
GRB has air spawns. This is a major issue because there’s planes phasing into reality further restricting the map size.
SB EC has planes spawning on runway with engines off. Only exception are floatplanes which spawn like 100 meters above the runway or carrier.
GRB only lasts 25 minutes maximum, but due to ticket drain can often end 10 or less minutes into the game.
Piston-engine dogfighting is a long process involving a lot of jockeying for position even once both parties are aware of each other. Either the kill happens within moments (caught unaware), or turns into a lengthy duel that can alone span 3 or even 5 minutes of two sides attempting to shoot the other, resetting and re-engaging.
SB EC lasts at most 180 minutes (3 hours), but often ends ~90 minutes due to ticket drain. This enables proper dogfights to develop and each party to use their best approach to the fight without being constrained by time (sans fuel)
CAS can win games in both modes equally.
Subjective benefit of SB EC over GRB:
The controls are way more fun in SB EC. Lack of instructor allows artificially nerfed planes to perform way better (109s come to my immediately).
Cockpit view is cooler.
Teams are far more mature generally speaking at WW2 brackets when there’s no air grind event and you will regularly have people forming impromptu squadrons with common goals and co-operation using just instant messaging commands and chat.
Judging by the above, to re-iterate:
If one’s sole goal is to just… spawn a plane…
Why not just play SB EC in the first place?
I know that when I realized this is what GRB has devolved to, I stopped playing GRB and just stuck to ASB with the occasional GSB match (i hate the line-up system. It doesn’t even do anything about keeping things historical or solving IFF issues…) instead.
Per your claims, there’s zero reason to play GRB that isn’t better served by dedicated air modes.
Your mistake is thinking spawning a plane is the only goal.
The goal is to get kills and win the match. Spawning a plan early is a means to that ends, not the ends itself.
As for the rest of what you said, not everyone like simulator or has time for enduring conflict. GRB matches are a faster pace and the “Realistic” mode strikes a nice balance between Arcade’s casual nature and Simulator seriousness.
And yet, you said you would first-spawn-rush a plane. A plane for a game mode that is horrible for dogfighting in due to the listed reasons (short time, ticket drain, airspawns, post stamp sized map that has airfield AAA in your nose for doing basic air combat tactics).
Why would you make yourself suffer all that?
And Enduring conflict’s nice part is you can join and leave at any time. Goodness knows there’s nights I just go in for a 30 minute sortie and then leave with satisfaction.
And if SB is still too scary… there’s ARB. ARB sucks because again - awful mission design, small maps, games ending too quickly - but at least it mostly solves the “Enemy airfield is within 8 km of the map and shoots you to pieces for chasing an enemy for less than 1 minute or for trying to create separation in the slightly wrong direction” and “enemies phase into reality from thin air” issues.
One that only inflicts suffering on everyone involved. Both those who like planes and heavily dislike even ARB for its claustrophobic nature and are forced to spawn a plane rather than tanks they looked forward to, and the tanks who cant do anything about it.
Because its not about dogfighting, thats CAP not CAS. Though I have had some really fun dogfights in GRB.
The goal of spawning a plane early is to use it to destroy opposing tanks, usually with bombs but sometimes with cannons and/or rockets too. At higher BRs missiles become a thing.
The only people I make suffer are the opposing players. That’s the point of combat in general.
ARB does suck and there’s no player controlled tanks to destroy. Just AI tanks that arent as satisfying.
What is so hard to understand about the fact that some people enjoy bombing player controlled tanks in a plane, as well as the dynamic aspect of possibly having to contend with opposing planes in the process?
I like playing CAS, I like revenge bombing, I like playing low BR games to seal club new players. These are fun things I enjoy doing and I’m not alone. Deal with it.
Because why people should play custom battles of they could be normal games?
If there was only few people who enjoy tank vs tank combat then adding a mode wouldn’t change much for You. You have to Pick if You belive that it would divide playerbase or that only few people want it
Because they aren’t normal games now, so if the choice is to either not have them at all, or make them yourself, making them yourself seems pretty good to me.
Furthermore if you banded together and made a series of custom lobbies, then demonstrated that they are routinely populated, it would send a much stronger message to Gaijin than “anti-CAS thread #1937473” on the forums ever could.
Making custom lobbies and playing in them would not only scratch your tank vs tank itch, it would give you a better chance of seeing a real TO mode.
Can anyone provide an actual reason not to do this?
