Huge news for gunship enjoyers. Shackleton, my beloved.
This would be my fix for this issue. Break aircraft, all aircraft, into smaller parts, the bigger the aircraft, the more parts. Localise damage to where it was actually inflicted. Im concerned that all theyve done is increased the amount of ammo needed to bring down a bomber from 1-2 rounds to a dozen or so, which is a significant increase, but not enough to make a difference.
As you can see, it’s way too clean of a cut to be artillery damage. He just pulled a lever on the right, and the tail jettisoned.
Makes sense, I didn’t know they could drop the tail gun, I only knew about the ball turret
Climbing is making less and less sense. At a time when a large portion of battles start with an air spawn for all aircraft, battle time is shortened to 25 minutes, and base respawn time after destruction is around 8 minutes, there isn’t always a chance to climb high enough and far away from the battlefield, and then wait for the next bases to start respawning without being spotted in the meantime by “that one” enemy plane that happened to fly in the exact same direction as us.
Not to mention planes other than bombers, which also fly with bombs and destroy bases.
Of course, there are other ground targets to destroy, but these are hardly profitable, especially when you have, for example, 3 or 4 bombs, where destroying one base yields more points than destroying 3–4 ground targets.
As for the maps, there are at least two such small maps. One of them is Mozdok (Front Line), and the other is Korsun (Front Line).
Dear god I am so pumped for this.
I really miss flying bombers and actually having a little fun while doing so.
Any chance more objectives for bombers to complete in a match being added?
Bigger maps?
Remove markers so that you can be sneaky?
Proper bombing targets that are not killed by smaller, faster aircraft before heavies even get close, unless they practically dive straight for the bombing target?
Oh my God finally a got thing and not another premium, nice Gaijin
Yeah. This is my understanding.
If so, this is going to fix none of the problems. What needs to be addressed is the inaccuracy of defensive gunners (apparently I can hit a target with 1 round at 2km with a fighter on fighter sized targets, but dispersion from bombers makes it impossible), the damage to the airframe not being distributed across multiple panels makes it effectively worthless to change this unless they change it to a state disparate from reality, and the fact bombers need to go down in BR to have any hope of hitting targets (It’s not hard to intercept them).
Even side climbing is comfortably intercepted by anyone vaguely aware of what they’re doing, and you only get 1 sortie out. Oh, and that 1 sortie is kneecapped if you bring a heavy payload, because diminishing returns are still a thing for air to ground.
There are many deficiencies and this is papering over them.
Yeah, precisely every single one of my concerns.
Really feeling like this is again either a deliberate misunderstanding of the issues facing bombers (survivability being one yes, but number of sorties, diminishing returns, inability to climb in the face of threats at the same ratings, etc) to present a good looking fix that does nothing, or actual ignorance of the problem at hand because so few people engage with air to ground.
The other way around. Flying boats had/have tougher structures to take the stresses of landing and moving thru water. If something is light enough to fly its light enough to float.
it 100% is.
Gaijin clearly doesnt listen to its community.
For that to happen, the maps would have needed to be larger on the scale of nuclear thunder more bases and objectives or aircraft could have spawned at higher altitudes and not needed to land to reload their weapons; but it would take another 600 years for any such change to occur.
From research points piñatas to bullet sponges. The improvement on bombers’ survivability is great, however I think we are missing something here—what about bombers participation in, specially, air realistic battles? From my little experience in this mode bombers don’t take any participation to the end of the match since bases can be easily be targetted by faster smaller striker airplanes and the enemy airfield can’t be destroyed.
Hopefully with this new bomber survivability improvement didn’t come only from people complaining but an actual will from the developers that didn’t needed to recieve and they noticed the mistake (boo obviously not). Regardless, outside from air simulator battles, bombers yet has no place in the match dynamic, the pilot is just wasting time, there are no benefits whatsoever to play bomber over a striker airplane even a fighter with proper equipment to strike bases since the airfield can’t be touched.
Destroy enemy airfield need to come back
I think this should be a much more essential change right now.
What’s the point of the bomber surviving longer if it’s still extremely easy to blow it up with a single rifle-caliber hit to the bomb bay?
Did no developer take into account that bomb casings are made of thick, solid steel? They shouldn’t be that easy to penetrate, regardless of whether the explosive charge would have detonated.

Don’t worry, it gets even better.
Bombers that carry heavy payloads have reduced rewards from striking base targets, because there’s a diminishing return dependent on how heavy the payload you bring into the game is. Fighters are fine taking their limited payloads, but bombers are kneecapped.
Cant wait for 2043 when the a10 gets this since it was kinda designed around being able to take fire
Another major problem is that bombers don’t have any influence on the outcome of the battle. When you destroy a base, how many tickets does that drain? 200? 500?
If i remember correctly, each ground unit destroyed is 100 tickets.
Overall, the purpose of fighters/interceptors are 2 things, counter other fighters and to intercept aircraft such as bombers and strike aircraft from doing material damage.
The purpose of strike aircraft, is to destroy the ground units.
Meanwhile the main purpose of a bomber is to do as much material damage as possible. However, in the game, doing material damage on buildings (bases), have no real impact on the outcome of the battle, because how little it drains the tickets.
A fighter plane flying and shooting at AA guns drains the tickets more that a bomber destroying a base.
