Changes to Bomber Survivability

Just make their ammo limited in RB as it is in SB and thats it.

I for one am sad that ARB EC hasn’t been available in such a long time. I loved it back in the day, and everytime the event was on, i played it exclusively for the whole duration, even as someone using a fighter.
Would i play it exclusively if it was always available? Probably not, but it would still be a fun alternative to have.

I like longer matches myself too, and hate that year by year WT seems to be going towards shorter and shorter average match times.

straight up lying is insane

He probably means they eventually died, perhaps not in the match he was in, but most likely in the next 10 games, where he wasn’t even present.

But claiming most were engine fires sounds like a load of bullshit. Most of the bombers i shoot and kill matches, die due to pilot snipes.

I am sure that you do not play the same game as us. I am sure that you do not know how the fire works for the “new” damage models on bombers. I am sure that you do not know where to aim at bombers to kill them.

This is the only way I kill them now. I have so many clips of just killing them in the front.

Yes alongside

  1. Increased standard spawn-height for bombers

  2. Removal of artificial spread on turrets

  3. Removal of artificial overheat on Turrets

  4. All maps besides carrier maps have destructible air fields

Going for a pilot snipe from any other angle but the rear has been my approach to kill them since i started playing War Thunder a very long time ago.

But that’s not the average players approach, and takes learning to accomplish reliably.

Which is why i think it’s unreasonable to demand such things from the average player. After all, even BR’s are adjusted from the average of the whole playerbase, not the very best performing people for any given vehicle.

No.
Alongside the opposite of every point you just made.

Bombers don’t need more training wheels to perform. They need to have the remaining training wheels removed if anything.

5km is not enough?

Umm, ok, then an addition of magazines to turrets, lmao.

Rn turrets have no magazines, only a one continuous belt for some reason. Even the ones that clearly had magazines

To not make magazines, gaijin made them overheat

I would love to see low rank bombers burst 30 shells and go into a 5s reload, lol.

One quick band-aid solution before the damage models are tuned down a bit, would be to give slow climbing, heavy interceptors such as the Me410’s the same altitude airspawn as bombers.

This would give them a feasible chance to do what they are designed to do; intercept the heavy bombers. It would also give them a gameplay loop that makes them useful.

The current interceptor spawn is too low for them to actually do what they are designed to do. Most maps are too small, and even on the few larger maps in that BR range they struggle if the bombers climb even slightly.
You will eventually be able to reach them, if you are not easily taken down by even a semi-competent fighter before that. And even then it’s not intercepting anymore.

Even with an altitude advantage over other fighters, the Me410’s especially dont pose a serious, game breaking threat.

Obviously this only affects certain BR ranges, but it’s a start i think.

Damage model in AAB are different ike fire would not automatically put out without EFS

I was hunting ju288s in b17s and b24s last match in sim, a fuselage fire seems to just eat their tail controls and they eventually spear in, similar to my he177

I dont have sources regarding to how long a fire lasts, or how much damage a fire does over x amount of time, only the chance of X fire causing a B25 to crash in X minutes, fires DO damage in war thunder but how quickly or slowly it should go I am clueless. And im not sure how a fire should spread, only thing I do know is it was possible to snuff out flames by entering a dive, and ive done it in war thunder recently, or maybe it was just timing idfk, and fires seem to eat stuff thats inline with downwind of the fire, like the airstream directing it back like a blowtorch, its why say my he177 or a ju288 loses its tail controls so fast with a fuselage fire, yet a fire on the wing seems to go back and take out the flap or some other stuff like the control line to that aileron if its placed behind the burning tank

Fires, both engine and fuel, can, and eventually will go out automatically now even in ARB even without EFS.

Not randomly.

Fuel depletion, air flow, etc etc

Sure, so you see there is a difference between AAB and ARB DM. The player experience in DM can differ depending on the game mode they play.

I would think that if a fuel fire goes out due to fuel depletion in said fuel tank, it would/should show up black in the damage model? Currently fuel fires can go out without showing the burned out fuel tank as destroyed.

Air flow can now help tremendously in putting out engine fires, but i have had engine fires go out almost immediately even when flying at barely over 200kph IAS, in a bomber.

Im not saying it can’t happen in a fighter as well. Just most of the time engine fires destroy the engine of a fighter and burn down the plane before that happens.

Whereas in bombers i have had engine fires go for minutes, only slightly damaging (slightly yellow) the engine.

Also fuel nor engine fires dont seem to damage anything structural in bombers, atleast on the wings. Not sure if central fuel tank fires cause control wires to get destroyed after long enough burning. Gunners somehow seem immune to fire damage?

Sure, never claimed otherwise

according to gaijin and some of you this is perfectly flyable and has no drag
these are all NS45 APHE impacts (the big one is from a literal rocket with ~5kg of explosive hitting the aircraft)
gaijin please adress this fucking issue because its not even funny atp
