Changes to Bomber Survivability

Stona refers to this image. It is heavily associated with survivorship bias.

Ahhhh

And give up the victory bonus because someone doesn’t want to play the game?

Oh yeah that’s very fun, but I guess you’d find it fun since you want to play bombers without threats

I’m not the one that wants bomber to be intercepted at 5k by fighters that spawned from the airfield and the only reply they have is “climb” with 2m/s of climbrate

Yeah!

You’ll only really die because some madman in a single engine fighter decided to hunt you down.

Which this change helps to avoid by making it easier to kill said madman before it chops you apart.

Because it is mainly “flank and climb”

Not “climb towards the enemy”, only very few bombers can do that.

Again, i never said that, what about “ecountering them one or two quadrants before the target” you people don’t understand

I don’t want bombers to be easy to kill I want them to be killable. To be very honest with you, my real opinion is that if bombers can’t be playable in arb without being toxic then they don’t belong there, because that’s what I think of any aircraft in that case. The devs are literally putting a lot of work into a mode oriented to ground strike precisely because ARB just isn’t suited for air to ground gameplay

yeah, you want bombers to be untouchable instead which is the dumber claim in this conversation and “just shoot ground targets or J out” is not really a good argument either. Every match will just become everyone striking ground or J’ing out on the airfield

this basically doesn’t exist anymore since the community happily voted to lower the victory bonus and increase the lost match bonus to be closer, again, years ago

so in other words you just want bases to be like in the middle of the map or something like that where like enemy and friendly bases are basically next door neighbours

Some maps dont even have tickets drain if ground targets are destroyed because each map has its own objectives, and sometimes destroying random ground targets isnt one of them

Bombers do nothing but climb the whole game, if you spawn them too high to be reached early on they’ll just climb even higher than they do now. Currently it’s fine but if it gets any higher it will become seriously annoying

False, the difference is still significant and I don’t really want to give up on it just to let others have a passive gameplay

Whatever it’s impossible to argue with you people, i’m happy anyways to see that they decided to change something to help bombers have fun

THH i do think it would help if bomber rewards were reworked. Especially at higher tiers. Destroying a single base should provide the same SL it takes to pay repair costs of your bomber if destroyed, and have subsequent base destruction in the same match be at a reduced rate. This makes bombers not ass to play while not making them insane SL grinders

i’ve encountered a few problem with the system on various light bombers and attack aircraft that are incredibely tanky against 37mm mgr18 (108g of tnt), especially on engines that tanked the shell like nothing happened. The system still need fine-tuning, especially for grb balancing and potent CaS planes that now are even harder to take down.

But this make those “suicide bombers” (like those B-25 you see that dive right away) viable.

Ok then, how would you wanna change that “fighters only approach bombers within 1-2 quadrants away of bases” without moving the bases closer to the bomber spawns or moving the airfields away which would make idle time for fighters even higher, you can’t just say “it’s impossible to argue with you people” without making any real arguments with good grounding (or like how they could be implemented)

Easy, make the bombers fly so high no one can get there ever unless they climb the whole game to catch a lone bomber
