Changes to Bomber Survivability

No thanks. Just keep this limited to multi-engined bombers.

Ju 87 D-5 with 20mm gunpods and B7A2 series do not need to be turbobuffed by this.

Extend it to multi engine fighters too.

Boy will vb.10 and do-335 enjoy this, they are the size of a bomber after all.

Much like P-61s or Do-17/ju-88 interceptor variants.

well definitly doesn’t feel like it due to how minor the difference is

Here we go.
Make my bomber literally untouchable and allow me to drop payload.
War Thunder is PvP game. If you want to avoid enemy fighters for whole battle just jump to custom battles, create a scenario where you can fly around and drop bombs and enjoy your time.
These changes are aimed to increase the bombers survivability, not to make them space ships that can fly around the map avoiding enemies.
I am sorry, but your idea is just wrong.

Buddy, you didn’t even clear the basic skill floor for a bomber, which is to avoid interception.

Wait did he delete his post?

Hey Stona, are we ever gonna see the radar gun aiming for the B-52 and B-66? That would immensely help them

Stona, seeing as the post shows Pictures of 30mm Minengeschoss hits which barely did damage, surely the Minengeschoss will also be able to shred the plane like on these pic, right?

Yup, i forgot that fighters can only go up to 5km and there’s no way to go higher

I mean, sure, but I think fairly fast and maneuverable heavy fighters like P-38 should be exempt from this.

Do-17/Ju-88 interceptor variants make sense. Not sure about P-61 Black Widows.

I also suggest lowering the possibility of bomb explosion or straight up removing then. They are one of the biggest reason that bombers die so easily.

Wasn’t that a Blenheim?

This works just in theory. The main problem is that your devs are unable to work correctly. That’s why Smolensk (a summer map) is internally classified as a “cold” map - with contrails at 5,900 m altitude. Whilst on most maps it is 9,300. Other maps have even lower values like 5,200 meters.

Showing a contrail is a friendly reminder for the enemy that there is a bomber.

You see, you clearly want “fly without enemy” bomber simulator.
I am sorry, random battles in War Thunder will not provide you such gameplay.

It can be a smaller scale buff, much like leave spars untouched and only upgrade the skin.

Excellent report!

This looks like a very promising step in the right direction. The emphasis on structural survivability, different engine configurations, ammunition types, and the distinction between piston and jet bombers is particularly encouraging to me, as I’ve played many bombers. The B-25 series is my personal favourite, with the Tu-2 series a close second! Hopefully this will result in bombers behaving less like flying glass cannons while still allowing well-placed shots against engines, fuel systems and crew to bring them down effectively. In my opinion, this could also make it more fun and rewarding to target individual modules on bombers rather than simply trying to sever a wing and instantly destroy the aircraft.

The purpose of these changes is to improve their survivability and bring the damage model closer to reality, not to turn them into flying fortresses that can simply ignore enemy attacks, which I can only applaud!

I also hope the changes are eventually extended beyond the bomber airframes themselves. A number of aircraft in the game still have rather simplistic or outdated structural damage models, so this could be a good opportunity to gradually improve aircraft damage modelling across the board.

Let me just land with some damage that doesn’t blow my wing off.

Correct

Do you know how annoying it is for fighters when they have to end a game but the last enemy is a bomber who climbed in space? We definitely don’t need to make them unreachable

You still can pilot snipe if a bomber is kow

Yes and there part is to bomb, something that they can’t because they die before reach a base or all the bases are gone from attack aircraft

(The change is extremely good tho)

So there is a bug with one map.
That’s the whole argument?
Can you link me to bug report related to this issue please?

And pls, I do not need chemtrails contrail to know there is a bomber ;)

Well they said that the damage models would be “based on era” so the small light bombers like the Blenheim, which are known to have a rather light structure, will probably still be vulnerable to large calibers. I don’t think anyone would want a Blenheim to eat rounds like a B-17 anyway…
