APHE does not fuse on aircraft skin.
It is intended for ARMORED VEHICLES. Bombers are not ARMORED VEHICLES.
If it hits 99.99% of the bomber it will PASS THROUGH
HE is different, it has a very sensitive fuse. Just 0.1mm, while the APHE needed 15mm of material to fuse!
So when it hits anywhere on the plane it travels the fuse delay distance, in this case 0.2m or 20cm, and then EXPLODES.
As we can see the delay fuse is working great!
All of these qualities make the HE shell the ONLY reasonable choice to engage aircraft, and is what EVERY AAA battery would have been firing.
Now let’s shoot the B-24.
As we can see the damage is much lower than it should be! In real life that wing folded immediately and the aircraft would have to be abandoned or all the crew would have quickly perished.
It’s a large 75mm cannon that is very similar to the ground-based AAA one. It’s definitely one of the largest guns ever fitted to an interceptor.

Now in war thunder, the HE does NOT do that, it blows up on the surface. the only way to RECREATE that shit of exploding INSIDE THE WING, IS WITH APHE, NOT ONCE DID I CLAIM JAPANESE AA WAS FIRING APHE AT BOMBERS.

they do pen and the fuze works but the damage doesn’t exist or too little, 63gr of explosive have the shell
i think even the panther with only 26gr do more damage

the lucky shot is the clip of that B24 getting hit with a japanese 75mm, not dissimilar to the ki102s 75, with that round visibly entering and detonating INSIDE the wing, absolutely disasterous, and if these conditions are met in a mathc, the bomber does die.
My buddy was attacking the carrier group and got onetapped in his p108 with a 127 lmao, wing off and all
on that… ammo dosnt work like in RL, as you already meantioned… APHE in reallife is not a blast that goes same in every direktion, (or HE for that matter) but that goes more to the sides… but people voted against the RL implementation of APHE blasts a while back… so… thats that.
