Changes to Bomber Survivability

Well that is if interceptors that were made to take out bombers were actually doing much. Bombers can tank even 50 mm hits. And many 30 mm hits (needed all 120 30mm with Me-163 that has the most potent 30mms to take B-29). The most effective way to take out bomber rn are many 12 mm API rounds. Untill thats gonna change. Interceptors will continue not doing what they were made for. And everyone will play bombers with frontal armament such as B-25, Tu-2s and shi like that will just hunt everything be it other bombers and fighters and interceptors which will have equally high risks of taking them down even in head on as only way to effectively get them without 12x 12.7mm API guns is just go head on and kill pilot. For those its not worth since they have more frontal armament than most fighters and are invonurable anywere else than pilot.

Thats true. Players didn’t take long to figure this out. Active frontal gun bombers or attackers getting spammed. Especially nasty in GRB, when russian 45mm APHE slingers kill everyone on the ground & air while tanking everything. Bombers take more fire than tanks on the ground lol.

how would this solve the bomber issue at all

There will be no markers in ARB → Players won’t see bombers → Players won’t hunt bombers → Players won’t die trying to shoot down bombers → Players won’t complain about bombers → There will be no issue with bombers.

It becomes easier to launch a surprise attack

So what you’re saying is that bombers should just be left alone so they can get free RP and SL with minimal risk of being shot down?

No.

I still believe that the best overall solution would be to move bomber spawns further from the battlefield, behind the friendly airfield.

This has benefits for all.

  • Fighters would have a better chance of reaching friendly bombers altitudes to provide escort, if they so wish.
  • Getting to altitude to intercept enemy bombers becomes easier and more viable, especially for heavy fighters with firepower to take bombers down.
  • Bombers wouldn’t be the first thing the enemy sees → making them less likely to become first primary targets.
  • Rushing to a bomb point for quick RP wouldn’t be as viable of a tactic.

All in all this would also be a fairly easy thing to implement and wouldn’t require changing game mechanics.

Even though I am happy with, and fully support the bomber buff, I also do NOT think removing markers would be a positive change. Bombers IRL and in game were and should have to be at risk of interception.

How vulnerable they should be to attack (mechanically/physically) is the only debate worth having. Removing markers in ARB is not the correct path forward.

There is already Air Sim available for those who wish to play without markers (and I know and support the Sim players who continue to advocate for improvements to Sim battles/Sim EC etc.)

Did you know that when you press the key to switch to bomber view, it automatically snaps to the nearest enemy? Making this completely irrelevant.

I didn’t know something like that existed.

It made fighting bombers in Simulator even before this update quite annoying. They press one key and instantly know where you are.

Thought you would know this, but every bomber has a tiny little AWACS system inside of it.

It’s real trust me.

Is that so… I see… Looks like I said something stupid.

Eh, almost everyone says something stupid at some point, I know I have here on the forums multiple times 😂 Being able to take new information and possibly change your mind/opinion is what is more important 👍

Well, technically, there are like 3-4 gunners who look at different directions inside almost every bomber.

I also support the bomber buff, but the first iteration of it is less than optimal. But im glad that Gaijin looked at the issues and started work towards fixing them.

While i do think the damage model rework was the necessary and logical first step towards increasing bomber survivability. I also think there are other changes that in the future could also contribute to the overall survivability.

This being one:

The bold text being a major factor.

Edit:

I have no clue what you’re talking about. Obviously none of us has ever said anything stupid. We’re all too smart to do something like that, especially me /s
