Changes to Bomber Survivability Feedback and Discussion

So do bombers have separate pieces now? Or are they still just 3 pieces?(wings, tail, and fuselage)

It seems like they just move the HP slider of these 3 modules all the way to one side.

It’s still the same, the HP slider is just so overtuned that some rounds stopped interacting completely with the bombers.

But devs said that its a first change to bombers and there will be more, iirc. So maybe in the future there will be more separate pieces or structural elements.

Mate… Just shoot to 2 of the 4 engines it has cmon it is not that hard…

To what spot?

To what spot again?

Not like they should die being shot at any possilbe part of it, idk.

Tank players are ok with shooting at critical spots (cupola, mg “spheres”, etc), and are learning these weakspots for every tank they play against.

But air players are not familiar with that since all planes just have “HP” right now and can be destroyed by anything. With bombers rework it will be changed.

Hey, listen, this might be personal and very boring but hey who cares.

I’ve been in WT since 2016±, over time, I have been playing bombers even tho they were pure glass, I have been waiting for this for maaaaaany years, and when I saw that this was coming a smile in my face appeared, and thought that the community would like that too, but for the past week I have been following this thread, and even tried to help and answer some things and the things I read are just sad.

I was hoping for some kind of open debate on “how do you kill bombers now?” or “what are the easy way of dealing with them?” but instead I have been reading for hours people throwing beef into eachothers and fighting because instead of 1 bullet it now takes 8 to kill a bomber, or because they used a 14.7 BR to try and kill a 5.7 BR bomber (why?), or because they kamikazed a bomber and didn’t explode instantly…

Why people is constantly trying to go back a step that was done? Bombers are strong now? You know what? They have engines, if they have 4, shoot at 2 of them, if you set 2 of them on fire you can turn away and that bomber will crash eventually, there is NO NEED AT ALL for a bomber to explode mid air like they do right now, nobody should be looking for it in this new DM since it would be moving one step forward and two backwards. Also about the crashing a fighter into a bomber, even they do not blow up instantly they suffer from damage.

I tested those things the same moment the first dev came out, and I spent the whole day testing with another player until late night. Remember that if the bomber appears fine from the outside, it does not mean that it is okay from the inside, this was also tested by myself in the dev server.

Please, try and test things with actual people that provide feedback on how the damage is transferring to the bomber, the AI is (IMO) not reliable because you only see the “outside” of the damge.

Take this as a “open letter” but, I expected more from this community, we can do better, we should be providing structured feedback, and test things in an actual reliable way, not simply throw beef into eachother because you are only thrashing many many hours (and probably days) of developers and researchers.

I only hope, that the DM remains likewise the first iteration, since the second iteration suffers from a BIG issue of the tail simply falling after a couple 20mm or 1 30mm HE (also tested by myself).

Hope you have a wonderful day.
Best regards,

Ah, why am I surprised.

I opened fire on a B-29 with an A-7E with two gunpods. A combined total of 3400rds. It kept flying.

The only way to kill a bomber in a reasonable amount of time and ammo is by taking out the pilot.

They can put out infinite engine fires.

I did, I was the one getting shot at. It was extremely funny to watch my G8N tank over 3000 20mm shells and keep flying just fine.

You mean you crashed after some non-visually shown damages? Like you lost all your fuel, or two engines, or something like that, became unstable and just crashed? Was this often?

I think players will continue to engage in combat until they see the bomber rip apart in mid air and the red “aircraft destroyed” text on top.

Are you trying to gaslight me? Please, use a human to test the fire extinguishment, you only have one fire extinguisher, stop spreading misinformation

That was tested by me too, and that did not happen, also tried smaller and bigger bombers with varying results

“Overclaiming from gunners has always been a thing” YEAH-except B29 has gun cams for its gunners built into its aiming mechanisms for verification, and also for data on its still pretty experimental fire control computers.

Prove it lol

Correct. After some ramming testing, the cables were cut quite usually, so that bomber was done. about fuel, yes too, there were some tests that I actually ran out of fuel due to perforations in the fuel tank. And the unstability crashes that I suffered were due to assymetrical power (running a 4 engined bomber with only 2 engines from the same side) and due to heavy structural damage that would slow you down a lot and make you loose control.

It might be like that, but I also think people need to learn

And when I did, I had an engine fire going for 5+ minutes with no extra damage being done

and I’m the one trying to gaslight? lol

my friend has ~1000rds in his fighter, he ran out 3 times and had to wait for the in-air reload, enabled by the custom battle options

And all your gun camera is gonna see is a damaged plane pulling off and going into the clouds below.

What about fuel?

Two fuel tanks blacked out at least, no fire. I don’t think my fuel was ever set on fire and we tested a handful of bombers.

Wait, on the video, do you have the infinite fuel setting on? Maybe it somehow messes with it…

If anything that would make the fuel fire situation worse no? I guess I can try it later though.

At the altitudes B29s were flying the clouds below were QUITE a long way down, and also they can compare their gun cams to japanese loss reports and what reconnassaince shows at their airfields
