Changes to Bomber Survivability Feedback and Discussion

Phoenix has such a ridiculously huge warhead that if it flew towards the center of the bomber blob and detonated it should be severely damaging all three of them though.

Direct hits from smaller weapons (sidewinder to R-73) should also generally be a one hit kill even to heavy bombers with how dense the fragmentation and proximity of the explosive shockwave to the aircraft.

One of the statements of all time.

idk, B-52 tanked an AGM-88 hit

You overestimate how far fragments stay lethal

The G8N1 has a limited service ceiling and high-altitude speed compared to, say, a Ta 152. (max speed at 10,200 m: 755 km/h vs. max speed at 7,620 m: 512 km/h)

The G8N1 can indeed force a tail-chase if the fighter is level with or below it, but once the fighter has reached a higher altitude and built up enough speed to take the initiative. The bomber will have a hard time unless it enters a risky, steep dive!

Speaking from experience with around 5,000 bomber matches, the hardest attack to counter is indeed the one pictured below.

Of course, this would be even more advantageous for the fighter if the bomber didn’t have infinite ammo to pressure at pleasure.

in the new dev serve i think the bombers are far to oweak once again, you can easily take down all three B29s only using a few hundred rounds from the mustangs 50 cals because they just randomly choose to catch fire out of nowhere.

this is not the fix we need gaijin, the issue was components literally werent taking damage because the main “skin” of the bombers was virtually invincible, and having any caliber just “randomly start fires” from meaningless hits isnt a proper fix

I may be on the bombers side, but .50 cals THING is starting fires, man. Im just happy the tail isnt falling off from said .50s

“Severely damaging” =! Guaranteed kill

im not gonna pretend my aim isnt absolutely godawful, but the ease i had in shooting down all three of these is absolutely atrocious

Naah thats waaaay to tanky… this is what 1 german 30 mm mingeshos does to a plane btw :

Its the large HE shells that were made to take out bombers not AP 12 mms that just doesnt make much sense

Another complaint was the discrepancy between different 30mm guns, like mk108s vs mk 103 ore ven adens, now it seems all their shells are aligned with their TNT filler

Bruh from that angle it should reliably cut the tail of with like 3 rounds imo

Like attacking wings from directly behind with HE should survive a few round of 30 mm but flat on not so much

ID love to see some documentation proving it was 30s that did that, and see how that goes against the dozen dofferent documents that have been flung around this thread in the last 500 messages that have disproven this, and that picture you posted fore is a tiny, thin skinned spitfire tail. See I can imagine a 30mm mine shell doing that to a fighter, cause thats just it, its light, small, fragile. Expected to AVOID enemy fire and be nimble. a bomber has an entirely different construction, the british were shooting bristol blenheim wings, their tiny mosquito sized first attempt at an all metal bomber with 3-5 108s

Buddy, I’m going to tell you one last thing. As someone who pretty much mained bombers, if the same thing happens to their aircraft in the future, I will definitely not support those people. Because everyone who is against us—except for those who present military records and videos, to whom I have immense respect—is acting purely out of self-interest. They completely ignore our entire research process, our forum discussions and comments, and all the effort we put in to verify these values. I hope that in the future, they get to share that same pain and grief.

Hit the nail right on the head with that

Its Mk 108 cannon test fire on Spitfire ?? Wdym disaprove this?
Have a video its what 1 30 mm shell did

Hey, so see the reply arrow at the top of the message I sent? Click it, youll see what message I replied to. :)

Also, yes, we know its a spitfire.

Now heres how big a b17 is vs a spitfire, whilst being built stronger with thicker skin. Mk108 mine shell? Absolute monster of a round, dont get me wrong. But the B17 is an absolute monster of a bomber

It’s not been disproven. You have deliberately misinterpreted the post-war ideal caliber study to try to make a claim.

The documented average rounds to bring down a 4 engined bomber is around 4-5 30mm. This is a figure that is available in the US Strategic Bombing Survey.

The video that people try to pass around of a B-17 taking a ton of 30mm shots is most definitely not 30mm cannon rounds.

Like anyone with even a passing knowledge of the topic will reduce that.

Funnily enough I had the same video pop up on my timeline and it’s basically the first thing Calum Douglas mentioned when looking at the video.
