Its not like gaijin lacks the technology to give aircraft and actual “skin” value, we got “structural” steel on milktrucks and even the hulls of some US light cruisers are shaped in 16mm STS steel. Just a TON of work, and difficulties sourcing documentation for stuff like the he111

As proven already, MK108 is survivable for bombers.
If you hit strong parts of wings, don’t cause any fires etc., it will not kill the bomber.
I am 100% fine with that. MK108 not destroying main spar of B-17 is also reasonable. It can damage Spitfire’s wing spar, but B-17’s spar is a few times stronger, so I would assume it has a chance towards wingtip with a few impacts but sure as hell not in the much stronger locations.
The entire point is, MK108 messes bombers up, causing fires and severe structural damage and you can’t realistically expect B-17 to tank a dozen shells, yet people here try to paint 30mm as mere firecrackers, while a pound of TNT would barely make a basketball-sized hole in mighty B-17’s skin, according to their logic.
Bigger than a basketball, a mk 108 gives proper dinner tray assuming surface detonation, I cant answer for under skin detonations. And about 500g blasts a meter diameter or so

I like bombers and would love to see them as a equally valuable class, integrated into air modes, as well as they are integrated in ground modes.
This change makes a step towards that. And its not a final change as devs said, they will make more changes for bombers in the future.
