Ive now confirmed the fire rate of 720 RPM from 1 in 3 rounds being tracer and the placement relative to the 110s guncam. Why isnt the B17 being peeled open like a can of sardines as shown in your tests against an he111 horizontal stabilizer?
Could it perhaps be the skin thickness being 2 to 3 times the thickness of that he111 stabilizer + being built like a… fortress?
Or the area of the aircraft being large enough to negate the effect of those mine shells going off in a small enclosed space?



Even the B17’s tail surfaces are ludicriously thin relative to the rest of the aircraft by a factor of up to 3
