I got bored one day and typed out a long lost of how I think War Thunder ground matches could be better. Figured i’d post here and see what other people think. Naturally these changes would be compensated so the grind wouldnt be effected negatively at the very least in this “perfect world”.
So entirely random idea to make War Thunder ground battles entertaining and accommodate the future of modern SPAA networks and other electronic warfare.
Increase map size and player cap
Replace current objectives as multi objectives where you need to hold multiple mini objectives to hold the whole objective (also have it make sense, like fighting over a strong point such as a town or strategic set of bunkers ETC.
Add at the very least basic infantry
(If talking purely for top tier)
- ATGM team
- light, medium and heavy squad (changes squad weaponry for defending themselves from tanks)
-Engineer squads who can build stuff like sandbag lines or dig pits for tanks, maybe even camo nets.
-infantry are lightly controlled by who buys them via a system similar to the artillery map except you set waypounts/targets for them to move to/engage
certain vehicles can transport infantry
-Warrior
-Bradley
-BMP
-Makarva
-ETC.
- Option to spend extra for them to use a truck instead
-maybe Russian tanks can transport squads as its known for infantry to use them as transports.
Certain vehicles or once again paid tow vehicles can be bought to be able to transport statics like SAM launchers, Phalanx, radar, jammer and whatever else falls under stationary defenses or team wide spawns.
Lastly the squad/combat mechanics
-increase squad sizes to allow 6-8 people
-solo queues are put into a random squad being divided out so all solo queues have a squad.
-improve in-game comms to encourage them to work together
-squads have a life and points pool
-the squad leader is the one who can buy or approve the more expensive/important assets from the store in his squad
-either set for certain vehicles or a SL, a rally point system can be added that is moderately sized and fragile so hiding it is high priority or else your squad will have to spawn at main.
-figure out a fair spawning system to prevent “spawn bombing” with rally points.
-Rally points don’t have spawn protection and are limited to your squad.
