When the CR3 was first announced and revealed I was worried it would be the typical upgrade for the CR2 and little would change but I’m glad there is something being done instead of wasting millions on pounds on a CR2 with slightly better armour, transmission and a new sight layout. I am proud of what has been done so far
If you ever trust the UK gov to know what the hell they are talking about you’ve made a fatal error.
i mean, cr2 didnt get 1500hp uprate because of its gearbox and suspension, which have been upgraded in the challenger 3 for the 1500hp demand. soooooo. (quoted from Chobham Armour Cold War British Development
then you also consider the one that said 1500hp is someone much closer to the army and tank development (account runner was from Queen’s Royal Hussars regiment) while other was just your avg government guy
Not the big forehead CR3
its not even using its own damage model rn, you can see how sloppy it is
Do we know if Gijin is considering adding the new mode of the CR3 with the APS that was shown in that presentation with spalliners and blow oit panels and other things the CR3 TD is missing ?
CR3 TD shown as installing Trophy APS is indeed mock-up Trophy MV, which is known as not chosen for real CR3, so low possibility it seems.
another “showoff” cr3 atd would bad to introduce into the game, for all we know it only used ballasts instead of actual armor (thats also why the “underside” of the cheeks arent covered)
i see
same applies to cr3 130mm (the guys that did it only had a week to put the 130mm and put the addon plates, no time to put neither 130mm autoloader neither actual addon comp)
also are we fully sure that the CR3 will not have an engine upgrade?
My lawyer strongly advised me against commenting on that topic (i did either way)
hahahahahaha well FUCK
i mean, nothing is stopping it from having at this point, the guys at ATDU tested their chally up to 2000hp (which it broke the armor holding arms and gave som bad experience to the transmission) but seeing that they did it before the transmission upgrade it really doesnt seem impossible ig? the 2000hp really debates if the challenger 2 actually has the cooling problems everyone talks about
example being that the “official” 1500hp cv12 powerpack for the challenger 2 didnt even have an actual cooling upgrade, but rather a air box upgrade (on which they removed the APU)
About the Challenger 3 and Ajax, read the Thales section:
Here’s another interesting article, though older:
Does anyone have more details that could better detail the capabilities of the Ajax/Challenger 3s gunner and commander sights? Also, LSAS and the digital crew… On the LSAS, is the Challenger 3 getting it or a similar capability, and is the first links comments on AI-powered capabilities to be applicable to the Ajax, Challenger 3, and Boxer sensor suites when they enter service?
Apparently the Ajax has 26 cameras aboard it… Would that include the electro-optical viewports/periscopes? If so, would those viewports/periscopes be AI-powered to provide passive detection and alerting? Will the viewports/periscopes of the Challenger 3 also have those capabilities?
Yes
If it did then it wouldn’t have performed so adequately in afghan. The challenger 2 is a very very misunderstood tank. But this thread is about the challenger 3 upcoming so one thing I can tell you is that the 1500hp and transmission upgrade will make it a much more nimble tank from the get go whilst having more weight than the regular base challenger 2. They are achieving most of that extra 300hp through an upgraded turbo package from what I have been told first hand by the megatron crew at tankfest last year
