This tank has no hope, less than that.
There is no info on the armour, or the add on armour. Even when this gets released as the final CR3 it’s going to be the same, crap power pack and crap armour (maybe a hull spall liner) but with Trophy and maybe DM 73.
If you mean for the ch2, there was a buff on the dev server, it looked far better, then it was reverted and we got the current implementation.
Who knows why, but it’s still riddled with bugs and issues so it was largely a complete waste of everyone’s time.
It was for the CR2 but the CR3 P (as it was called on the Dev) would have had it by default but it doesn’t matter. Britain is supposed to get a tank with some of best armour in the game yet it’s worse than the Leo 2A5’s armour, it has an average reload but only for 4 rounds, some of the worst mobility at top tier in most models.
The Challenger 2s are overshadowed by most things at or close to top tier, we have to have unique models just remain somewhat competitive e.g. Iron Fist on the Black Knight, Leo 2 power pack and transmission in the CR2E, Rh120 L/55 on the CR3 TD (it’s still a Challenger 2)

Gaijin have done no tank as dirty as they did the challengers. Maaaybe the abrams and it’s outragerous turret ring.
There is zero technical reason to leave these issues outstanding. Zero.
The Abrams still has the 5 second reload for 18 rounds and has a better APFSDS and secondary shell (HEAT MP rather than HESH)
Also the Abrams is more mobile

The turret really is huge, its almost like a Vickers Mk.7
Dementinally the turret roof is actually the same height (2.5m) but the Commanders sight is significantly taller. The turret bustle is only a little longer. We might get a turret stowage basket though, I believe the crew is loosing some stowage to make room for the ammo rack.

trophy’s probs a bolt on optional thing tbh I expect to see it come about when the tank enters its final stages or when the addon armour packages are finalised as its probs apart of some larger war kit
Plus its probs gonna be tested on Le Megatron
Knowing the UK we will have 10 and share them around ha ha
The tank is made to be fitted with Trophy, but not always fitted with it like the merkava
I believe the UK is initially buying 60 trophy systems, which can be fitted to the CR3 whenever they’re needed
They should probably buy a few more though

A hard kill APS system is part of the requirements set out by the MOD as part of the program. The ATDU haven’t had the tank for even 4 months yet. 1500hp is also part of the guidelines set out for the program. APS is fairly easy to bolt on and integrate into the systems of the tank as others have said and the 1500hp will be achieved with an upgraded turbo pack among other upgrades. I already said this months ago and I check back on this forum and see 50 odd replies arguing about it and saying that it’s not what’s in game
This isn’t directed at you Luque but my god you all need to read the title of the thread. the challenger 3TD in game is not what this thread is about. This thread is about the actual challenger 3. the 3TD is essentially just the 2LEP
Megatron has been retired and will be getting ready to be handed over to the tank museum. Megatron’s chassis is bent and so she cannot be upgraded to a challenger 3. I spoke to her commander at tankfest just gone in July
we will have to wait and see what the ATDU come up further down the line as they only received challenge 3 in late 2024. Between September and November time. I can’t remember which of the 3 months
Nah I ment to test the APS system on the Megatron but I guess what ever the ATDU yoinks for a future testing vehicle

Honestly I have no idea but she’s an old girl and has gone through a lot. The gearbox testing for the new gearbox spec for challenger 3 for one. She had to pull the CRARRV as fast as she could across rough ground, there is a video on the ATDU twitter page of it
I do wish I had asked him how the hell they bent the chassis but honestly it could have just happened over time. Warped hulls could be crated over ten years of stressful testing or it might have been a single thing that did it. Regardless I am glad she is finally going to get some rest in the good hands of the tank museum
