Challenger 3 firing at a T72-B3 (I believe). The round went through the front plate, decimated the driver and crew compartment aswell as the autoloader and ammo, before ripping through the engine and out the other side. I wish i had a longer video but cant find it anywhere.
Whats the main differences over DM73?
Bigger, longer, maybe faster (idk atm), more powerful, can blow a T-90M apart from like 5km’s (in real life, in WT it likely won’t make a dent in it cause muh no anti-ERA stance from Gaijin).
and I assume its got inert propellant too?
Most likely, given that its a staple of Rheinmetall’s.
IIRC that’s been a feature of every kinetic projectile they’ve developed since DM63 and onwards with the propellant incrementally becoming more and more inert.
Why is that? to lessen barrel wear or what?
Propellants typically explode
Inert - in this context does not blow up when hit. So no ammo explosion, or limited to minimum.
tldr no ammorack explosion that result in turrets joining the space programm like you see on the russian tanks
Well most western and western influenced MBTs have blowout panels
I thought it would just provide less pressure on the breach so less muzzle velocity than a less inert propellant
thats still an explosion that happens
With blowout panels you lose all your ammo and in real life it immobilises the tank as the crew have to exit before it spreads into their compartment
I thought if the ammo detonated within the blowout panels the crew could return to base and have it fixed by the field mechanics
I find it hilarious that now the Challenger 3 TD and the base Challenger 2 are at the same BR
As stupid as it is, at least the CR3TD now fits quite nicely in with the new 11.7 (old 11.3) lineup
I mean they 3 TD is just a challenger 2 with the challenger 3 cannon and ammo placement
The CR3 TD should not have been added, we should have gotten the CR2 CLIP, the CR2 Streetfighter 2, CR2 CSP and then the Challenger 3 with Trophy and the 1500hp engine
Mock up apparently
Mock up as well
