Challenger 3 MBT - Technical Data and Discussion

over 20mph faster would be nice but im leaning towards bad reporting

It’s almost certainly a mistake. The press release from that day on the government website never mentions speed, as you can see in this article.

The article from the British Army does mention speed but quotes 60kph, which is what we’re used to hearing.

The only instance I’ve seen where an official press release has quoted 60mph was the original release from May 2021, which was later corrected to 60kph. Most outlets didn’t change their own articles after the correction was made, and I imagine that in this case the reporter remembered the old 60mph figure and then used an article that hadn’t been corrected to make sure.

I was just having a look at the AMETEK cooling fans, does that look more like the ones fitted to the new powerpacks?

Theres another image.

kind of, but not

they do not have the slope on the inside, and the “empty ring” is not there.

Presumably the “slope” is covered because they’ve added on the part where the belt is fitted onto.

Migh be, but imo the cutout is too deep for it to be the slope.

Most likely a unique to 9A design

Yeah possibly, I wouldn’t be suprised if the 9A had a unique design.

They claim their fans can run at higher speeds than previous models to give improved cooling, which is guess is perhaps why they were chosen to replace the old ones.

Theres a higher definition image of the fans in the video too

So it is as i said

Makes sense to me, it seems these indeed are probably upgraded fans

Is this not just an old powerpack? The old turret is just sitting there so many the new pack was installed and that is the old one?

Its very hard to tell the difference, but (if we are correct) the powerpack in the new video has different fans to the old one indicating it is upgraded

Challenger 3 testing integration of EuroTrophy MV hard kill APS with representative turret and upper hull. Specific design and structures of the integration will not be representative of the final design.

Any difference with Trophy aps by Rafael ?

Man, that thing was like year or 2 ago.

Rafael is part of eurothrophy,
eurothrophy is a joined company of General Dynamics European Land Systems, KNDS (KMW+NEXTER DEFENSE SYSTEMS), and RAFAEL Advanced Defense Systems for the european distribution.
Its a slightly altered Throohy APS from Rafael so to say

just slight differences but nothing really that different

They are actually Rafael’s products. As for the specific difference, I can only say that Trophy MV will be more streamlined and have fewer ammunition than Trophy HV installed on Leopard 2A8, M1A2SEPV3, K2EX, etc., and the rest, such as radar, transmitters and operation modes, are the same.
