Challenger 3 weight fixed. I presume it will go down to the 62,5, but i can never be sure what shenanigans will happen

There we go
Yep, it is
and just like that all the challengers are fixed!
Just in case there was any doubt about whether the Challenger 3 will feature blowout panels: this 1990 report discusses fitting a 120 mm smoothbore gun to the Challenger 1 and Challenger 2. In both cases it is clear that blowout panels would be a mandatory requirement in such a case. I very much doubt that has changed 30 years on.
Unfortunately that doesn’t confirm they are present on the Tech Demonstrator, but I am sure they will be in the final design.
Yea, sadly it does not look like the blow outs are there.
I know there’s no written proof and that mantlet wedge looks the same as the CR2 one with a shroud on top, but given they added an extra plate to the hull and there is now no electronics behind that shroud and inside of the mentlet, it would be nice if they’d just give it a composite block behind the shroud as is present on the Leopards.
Imo it seems like a no-brainer that Rheinmetall would add improved breach armour as that was a large restructure given to the 2A5 was a similar style of breach reinforcement. Also as we seemingly lack blowout panels it would help mitigate the inevitable ammunition explosions coming from the frontal arc.
On live the challanger 3 has lost around 100 on its turret cheecks meaning dm53 can pen you lol
This is embarrassingly bad. If they manage to mess up the armour values when they are supposedly just copying the turret armour over, how are we supposed to believe they get things right when they have to model it from scratch?
This has to be a joke?
There useless as our reports with leos. We with you guys
I’m interested, where is this from? I’m assuming the big UK SECRET warnings are irrelevant now?
It’s from a visit to the National Archives, so yes it’s declassified (else they wouldn’t have let me walk in there and photograph it).
On the other hand, that black Transit van has been parked opposite your house for a while…
Ah! I’ve been meaning to get to the National Archives to take a look at some of their CHARM 3 proposals.
