I believe just weights for now i think, if not its some really thin Composite
It doesn’t look securely fastened enough if to be functional armour, imo

High possibility on addon composite, as it’s too thin for ERA and weight… is already tested on TD models.

It seems odd to add extra composite to the turret front, would that not already have sufficient protection?
Maybe not against bigger cannons of 130~140? Those model with addon armor on front exist quite long time if I remember correctly
could be additional protection against lower level threats (drones, lower calibre APDS etc) to prevent damage of the main array? (And therefore lower effectiveness of the main array). The panels look much easier to replace than the main composite array.
I kind of hope its ERA, it would make it pretty unique
Ironic that armor in that exact area was rejected by Gaijin on the C2 because they thought it was hollow and used as a cable run.
It’s currently all structural steel on C2.
That’s not correct and honestly just woosh
Eh?
So does anyone reckon we’ll get another Chally 2 situation where they will say epsom has no performance improvements over Chobham?
The burden of proof will be on you to prove to Gaijin it is…When it’s brand new and classified…
Epsom is clearly a marketing lie and is clearly made of cardboard.
We all know Epsom is a salt.
I think the salt at 30mm thick will have more kinetic protection than what Relikt has and should have
Some interesting info here. A poster from Babcock, who are in charge of the HAAIP engine upgrade for the Challenger 3 state that the CV-12-9A runs at 1500hp.
The only issue, the source used is “Information from google” (as seen as the bottom).
So sadly its not going to be a primary source, but its still from the company which has actually done the engine upgrades. Just posting this as its quite interesting, I’m not saying its confirmed at 1500hp.
A zoomed out view also shows a photo of a CV-12-9A engine which the sheet is from.
1500hp Is unrealistic in any aspect, it is impossible for any tank to have such a powerful engine, this is a clear marketing lie))))
Marketing lie, horsepower reduced to 1000hp

Does anyone know what the circled red area is? it dosen’t seem to be present on the Challenger 2’s engine. Maybe im missing something though.
I can confirm at least for the CR1’s CV12 that that’s where the main engine air intake and air cleaner sit, and it’s likely the same for CR2. Struggling to find any images of the air intake system.
The part circled on the 9a is looking a lot like what can be seen on the CR2E’s 1500hp variant.
