No reason, just a thought they might change the design some way.
I would guess with the repositioning of the the smoke launchers ewe could expect a turret front add on?
Perhaps or maybe to have the wiring go under the main armour face rather than through it? Although it may be like that on Cr2 and this is purely a design choice
Indeed! When I saw the first pre-production pictures, I found its lack of forehead disturbing lmao
It looked like an unfinished model kit, or a drawing by a kid.
Now it looks fiiiiiine.
i was thinking and wouldnt it be easy to just move the smoke launchers if they want to had the wedges like the 130mm version has?
i mean i suspect theyre activated from a wire that goes underneath the turret.
also a lot of comments on x talk about “only” 148 but if we consider materials like titanium in the composite price isnt also that important as availability of those materials.
You can see here that there are small notches on the lower edge of the cheek which the wiring for the launchers is routed through
Purely design i guess or something will attach on the cheeks? Maybe we shall see soon
probably moved as a result of them working out where they want Trophy is my guess, either to create space for the wiring for trophy or to create the actual space on the turret itself
Could just be that they need the space to mount ballast plates on the front of the turret for various trials and tests
Thats not right. Mounting the trophy sensors above the smoke launcher would look ugly :)
Thats just to show off the technology, its not actually going to be mounted like that, and if it is i will be very suprised.
It’s also possible that the black area on the turret is intended as a cover for the mounting point, the same way Teddy had regular plates there when the trophy mock-up wasn’t present
I’d expect mounts like the black nights iron fist, on the turret cheeks and back
Whats the deal with the hole in the roof btw… maybe thats where its slated to slot into? I expect the little square bit towards the back is the indicator for blue on blue stuff
Probably a hole to make it easier to insert weights simulating armour
No idea, but that’s one of the plates added since the IAV photos which people speculate have composites, so it’s possible the hollow area is for a composite insert. Not sure about other practical applications tho
Tbh we havent got a good shot top down yet so we dont know what the roof to the back looks like…
Complete with blowout panels, I’d hope…
Well you dont look at every other nato tank with their blowout pannels, see the Cr2s turret popped off in ukraine and not think to adopt blowouts.
I hope…
