I’d expect mounts like the black nights iron fist, on the turret cheeks and back
Whats the deal with the hole in the roof btw… maybe thats where its slated to slot into? I expect the little square bit towards the back is the indicator for blue on blue stuff
Probably a hole to make it easier to insert weights simulating armour
No idea, but that’s one of the plates added since the IAV photos which people speculate have composites, so it’s possible the hollow area is for a composite insert. Not sure about other practical applications tho
Tbh we havent got a good shot top down yet so we dont know what the roof to the back looks like…
Complete with blowout panels, I’d hope…
Well you dont look at every other nato tank with their blowout pannels, see the Cr2s turret popped off in ukraine and not think to adopt blowouts.
I hope…
I also hope they bring the commanders sight cover back, the massive box on the top of the turret looks very strange with such a tiny sight up there
Probably redesing in progress
Yes, I have
Why does GJN insist of giving us this rubbish on the back of all our tanks?
We are the only top tier tank that consistently gets it - 2E is the only one without.
Does the spare fuel barrels also contribute weight?
Either way, it increases the profile of the tank and just makes it look uglier/worse.
Because the are carried more often than not on CR2, even in conflict areas. They can be removed of course, it’s just not that necessary to do so.
Russian tanks carry fuel drums on the back too but it’s SOP for them to dump the drums before combat because in addition to diesel, they often fuel their tanks with fuels that have a low flash point like petrol, which poses a significant fire risk. In the case of T-80 it’s often a jet fuel like TS-1 or TS-2.
Whereas the UK will only ever put diesel in the drums, which has a low flash point when it’s an unpressurised liquid, and in a large volume is actually rather difficult to set on fire.
We realised petrol should not be in the logistics chain after those AVREs exploded on Op. Granby and made an effort from the mid 1990s to convert things like petrol-driven CVR(t) to a diesel engine.
Do you know if they weight from them is included in war thunder? I wish they were optional.
AFAIK the published 62.5 tonne “combat weight” means with internal fuel only but I might be wrong.
Two full 200 litre drums of diesel would only swing it by about 0.35 tonne either way
They shouldn’t be, if you were to take the standard challenger 2s weight and measure it, I certainly wouldnt measure it with the barrels.
fair enough. It would still be nice if they were an option cosmetically. If we can stick ridiculous bushes on our tanks for enough GE, we should be able to remove stuff too.
When carried they also more often than not dubble as extra crew storage
Or like you can see here, extra beverage
inb4 cr3 wheight is now 80t because allong with the ketle it will have a beer cooler on the back
From what I recall the combat weight is 64t, which includes crew stowage, fuel, ammunition, and tools but doesn’t include the crew or any add-on protection
62.5t is the training weight, which is the combat weight but without the ammo.
If Hull’s armor doesn’t thicken, which means the additional armor is 150-170 when it is 60 degree
