Challenger 3 MBT - Technical Data and Discussion

What that reads to me is “everytime you guys screw up and post things you shouldn’t i get grumpy >:(”

hahaha, will bear it in mind

The British Army’s “Challenger 3” tank model was displayed at the press conference of the new headquarters of the international department of the Rhine Metal Vehicle System in Bristol, England, the Rhine Metal House.

bro killed it 😭 its rheinmetall

That’s a lot of lower plate armour, too bad its only going to be as effective as TES’s LFP block when the CR3 gets added to WT.

The Challengers may only be the best at looking good, and if this is what CR3 is going to look like…

It passes in my book.

LFP is nice no matter what tbh, hopefully it is more effective that the Cr2’s add on.

If you want to see if it looks good we have to wait for a TES/OES standard to be made, thats when the Challengers look the best

It looks like a different model from the one we saw earlier? It doesn’t have the extra plates on the turret cheeks and sides, looks like it doesn’t have the extra UFP add-on either, and it seems to have a different mantlet?

Spoiler

Looks to me like new turret cheek addons, UFP addon (on top of the newer UFP armour), turret side addons and the LFP addon as well. Addons all around.

just wait untill we have another discussion about how thick the backplates are :p

Also the mounting points for what i presume to be the Trophy APS on the turret corners.

Those things on the corners are the Elbit Laser Warning System (E-LAWS). Same thing is on Ajax

Are they the same as what Black Night had as well?

I believe so. BN was using Elbit’s Iron Fist system as well, so had a fair bit of their stuff for APS

Aside from the turret-side bolts vanishing and the LFP add-on, it’s basically just the first CR3 prototype we saw. Definitely doesn’t have the same turret and UFP add-ons as the first model.

It seems so

Does anyone know if CR3 is going to get a new track? or are they using the CR2 tracks?

HAAIP includes suspension upgrades but I’ve not heard anything about the tracks themselves being changed

Same track I think, CR2 got an updated track mid life anyway so it’s not “old”

Looks pretty damn cool all worked up like that, even better when the APS is fitted and nice to see them finally mitigate those hull weakspots…

The price is the weight of up to 80 metric tons (15Pwr)in the future. Xddd

Ahhh… well that is unfortunate. There’s a good amount of bridges and even terrains they’re likely to be much too heavy for already let alone if they balloon to 80 tonnes.

I wonder how they intend to mitigate that issue. Even a 1750hp engine can’t fix it being that heavy
