Today i would like to suggest the ROSY Modification for the Challenger 2.
What is ROSY?
ROSY or Rapid Obscuring System is designed and developed by Rheinmetall. ROSY is labelled as a survive on the move - dynamic protection system. Its a 40mm rapid smoke dispenser that can be fitted to both civilian and military vehicles and offers protection for the vehicle and its crew against surprise attacks and ambushes by firing a multi-directional smoke screen.
Rheinmetall’s description of ROSY is: “Rosy can create dynamic smoke screens within one second in addition to the instantaneous, large-area, multispectral interruption of the line of sight . Even moving objects can be shielded long-term.”
ROSY can protect a vehicle up-to 360 degrees without reloading. The deployed smoke provides effective IR and Laser jamming and decoy effects as a protection from the enemy.
A vehicle can be fitted with up-to 4 ROSY launchers and is a single click use. Each launcher has 12 smoke canisters. The Challenger 2 would have 2 smoke launchers on the front totalling 24 smoke canisters. The smoke canisters are DM15 40 x 280 smoke canisters.
ROSY on the Challenger 2
ROSY was first seen on the Challenger 2 around 2016–2018. Rheinmetall, partnered with BAE Systems, aimed to upgrade the tank with improved sensors, protection, and firepower. As part of this, ROSY was fitted to demonstrate enhanced soft-kill protection.
The system was integrated onto the Rheinmetall Challenger 2 demonstrator, shown at defence exhibitions like DSEI and Eurosatory, where it was mounted around the turret in a modular layout. This setup gave the tank rapid 360-degree obscuration against laser-guided weapons and thermal sights.
How would this work in game?
this should be added as an additional and optional modification replacing the regular smoke launchers. (Please excuse my terrible editing, its the best i can do)
