Challenger 2 Overhaul

Great initiative. I hope Gaijin realizes its mistakes and focuses some updates solely and exclusively on fixing bugs, game errors, and vehicle errors. It seems like this is something it has been neglecting for years, focusing only on adding new vehicles, adding more bugs, and then fixing the most insignificant ones.

I hope this gets listened to but i fear it won’t.

I know not much is known about these rounds. But, the british army did procure L28a1 and the L28a2 round was being tested. Perfect opportunity to increase the penetration as gajin can simply make up the numbers for now until we have actual data. I know people push everything must be accurate but sometimes we need to recognise this is a game and not a simulator.

Whenever it’s up to Gaijin, they always go for the worst and lowest possible ones.

Not only the Challenger 2, but also the Stormer HVM has many problems that have not been fixed, the most important of which are the IFF and radar interface.

L28 is functionally L27 but tungsten iirc so I wouldn’t expect anything of it.

As far as I understand it is as you say, the L27A1 being the best bullet for the Challenger 2. That is why it was decided to make the Challenger 3 with the German cannon, because the British cannon with separated ammunition has already reached its limit, something similar to what happens to the Russian and Chinese 125mm cannons, which having separated charges does not allow them to use long APDS-FS, so there comes a point where they are at a disadvantage.

Not exactly the cannon. L27A1 shot is the exact length of the CR2’s turret stowages. The turret couldn’t handle bigger shells - that’s why CLIP(?) ((the one that originally got the L/55 on a base CR2 turret)) only had something in the range of 14 rounds.

Consequently, this isn’t quite true. A turret redesign without a gun swap would have allowed for longer darts. The problem was definitely not money standardisation!!!

I really think that if they wanted to they could have made a complete round with the Challenger gun, since the Challenger 3 with the L55 uses the same turret as the Challenger 2, which indicates that a complete ammunition can be handled inside that turret. What I believe is that the British decided to go for improving their Challenger with a more than proven gun instead of risking making their own anti-tank gun design.

As I told you before, in the case of the Challenger, it’s probably a matter of saving money on developing a cannon, taking advantage of a good one, with room for improvement and well-tested.

Then it got nerfed i think i dont know

My picture is from the dev server. Are you sure you sre in it?

Yes. it did.

When it first entered the game it was at 1500 HP because this was the planned HP for the Challenger 3 at the time.

Then the MoD decided it wasnt upgrading the engine and Gaijin instantly nerfed it down to the same engine as the CR2s with 1200 hp.

Though there is a report (linked above) for them to have 1300 HP

CR3TD has gotten a numver of similar nerfs for other things. Like the removal of LWR and all of the armour and spall liners have been denied because they werent preset on the exact version of the CR3 modeled. They came with the later prototype variant
