Challenger 2 MBT - Technical data and Discussion (Part 1)

I see, i hope it makes it in time for the day 0 of the major update but if it doesnt then its w/e

As i pointed out to you, the only source that mentions prototype with hull armor on the Abrams is the source i posted above, if you have one that talks about the M1A2 SEP v2, feel free to share it, until then that “prototype” does not even exist.

In what sense, that the particular components were never mounted simultaneously? or that it literally never existed. Of which the sheer existence of the license refutes outright, let alone the change from “5 hulls”, to “As Needed” in later revisions of the license.

Further the implication that plans did not exist to refit existing tanks with various arrays should it be deemed to be needed, is very, unlikely, considering that the arrays basically have the same form factor.

Its not a design like the M1 ADGS, where the turret was at best components & subassemblies only, and never made it to even a wooden mockup.

And even then the Maus(among many other designs), technically never even had its actual turret mounted, and yet it does in game, so its not like a precedent hasn’t already been set.

Don’t get me wrong, Legwolf said specifically that 5 SEP V2 hulls has been made and sent off to be used in tests and training, i sent the source for specifying these weren’t M1A2 SEP V2’s.

It never left the mockup stage, and there were no informations about the missile it would be using. Even assuming they would model the vehicle anyway which they did, with no informations about the missile how they could model it? Assumptions?

Those are different BR’s and once again that is Developers discretion.

not to mention the double standars in excuses. like the excuse that the abrams mass did not increase for a2v1 and v2.

but adding 10t to the tes increases nothing. its ambiguous reasoning that leaves us scratching our heads.

Very cool ch2 discussions

Didn’t you know CR2 has DU clearly

we have to wait for new dev server. maybe this weekend…

Im joking

Its that biege fabric at the back of the photo. Its a secondary layer of weather sealing for the NBC protections iirc, it serves no armour purpose.

Well, we do know they have some sort of protectional properties and there is supposed to be some spall protection around there according to the mantlet.

The protection properties are NBC related, not ballistic. Protection is an incredibly far reaching term in British manuals

It does explicitly talk of splinter proof plating

We know that Cr1 has a spall liner under the orange sound damper, if it is on the mantlet, probably

thats a Chieftain. Cr1 have the same structure

That sentence needs an Oxford comma tbh. Should be “…splinter-proof plates, and a splash sheet (1)…”
I’m not arguing against CR1 having spall liners in that area, I’m saying the splash guard isn’t it. Given what we know about the mounting for the L11 its probably behind the splash sheet to protect the splash sheet, so the NBC protection isn’t compromised by shrapnel or small arms fire.
You can actually see a similar splash guard on the chieftain mk11

you are in the wrong place, here is M1 technical discussion

However, both late and Early are 25.4mm
@DevilO6 tell me that late is a 50mm plate

Also I don’t know why this structure overlaps with armor
Is there two layers? 25.4+25.4?
