and still no lower front plate spall liner for the CR2
The armour is the least of the CR2 problems the fire power and the 4 round ready rack kills the tank
the armour which IRL is its main damn feature is pretty much non existent in teh game mate xD
The round unfortunately is a biproduct of the damn rifled barrel
the ready rack im sure was proven to be more than 4 rounds but could be wrong.
They literally have arbitrarily nerfed the CR2 AGAIN by moving the damn breach model up creating a massive gap which u can fire straight into the turret ring from xD
2-piece ammo*
hence the 2 piece ammunition, is a biproduct of using the rifled barrel.
2pc ammo isn’t a requirement for a rifled barrel and vice versa, main issue with the rifling is the wear/lifetime and more awkward production iirc
no but they chose the rifled barrel for using hesh, which for the british was a two piece ammo storage system, hence why they use the rifled barrel, so its a biproduct of using the rifled barrel, technically should of said the rifled barrle is a biproduct of using hesh which is two piece ammo but most people dont need to split hairs over it.
regardless that doesnt change the fact that the L27A1 round can only do so much due to being a two (three) piece ammunition.
Yeah the front of the tank is now just dead from any shot now
But having only 4 rounds at 5 seconds and then 6.5 hurts the tank.
Especially with how poorly the CR2 L27A1 seems to do in game :(
yea but the physical limitation of the dart’s penetration is a direct result of using 2pc ammo, there’s no need to loop back round into procurement and prioritising compatibility with existing ammunition stocks to link said limitation back to the rifled barrel.
fun fact, if you have a fresh crew for the CR2 the past ready rack reload is over 8 seconds.
I with an expert crew on my CR2s am sitting it i think it was 7.2 or 7.6 seconds after the ready rack.
which is absolutely ridiculous.
What ive said is true though there is nothing wrong with it.
As I said you’re the one splitting hairs over it mate.
“it’s the rifling”
“actually it’s the 2pc ammo”
“you’re splitting hairs.”
if you want you can trace back to the assassination of archduke ferdinand and technically be correct in saying the round performs poorly because Princip was hungry
20 round ready rack would make the Challenger 2 so much better and its also realistic
I think that the lack of regenerative steering and the breech armour are the two most important things.
1 considerably negates the lower power to weight ratio and the other allows it to actually do its job of being hull down without losing crew members. Also if the upper hull armour was slightly better it would be able to stop a lot of APFSDS rounds. I find it highly convenient that many Chobham armour values top out just around where rounds can go through, in some circumstances we are talking millimetres.
2S38 rounds go right through the front of the CR2 weak spots. The tanks cooked
2S38 also does that with Abrams tbf with its turret ring.
It’s a massive pain in the arse. Considering most other MBTs are 15-20 rounds in the rack.
And L27A1 just seems to… not want to spall as much as everyone else. Probably to do with the (probably) incorrect figures used on the round…
id rather see an update where they actually fixed a bunch of issues in the damn game and what not, just had Dm23 to get through the front of the stillbrew on the chieftain mk10
We can get 28 no problem
